  • I'm almost ready to start

    Yep, comin back.

Back in 2000 I went ON a Adkins and lost about 70 lbs. Felt great, looked pretty good, got married. I was borderline diabetic at the time I started. Everything fell into place, blood pressure down, cholesterol down, weight down – I MUST BE CURED!!!

    Well maybe not.

Because of the close call with diabetes I’ve been very carb conscious, but have been slipping further and further into the abyss.

Now I’m almost back to my starting weight, taking blood pressure medication (for the first time) and generally not feeling good, particularly after I eat.

So I’m comin back - on the 3rd why put it off, yeah that’s a good question. Well I’m a realist, I’m not going to start 2 days before Christmas, and a couple days after that I’m on a road trip to visit friends and family until the new year. So I’m just going to wrap my mind around it and get serious AND JUST DO IT when I get back.

My wife (bless her heart) isn’t going to join me on Adkins but will chose her own path.

So I’m interested in what software is now recommended for tracking progress with eating, exercise and results? Also I’d be interested in finding out if we can both set up our own profiles on it?

Thanx IA for your time and info.

I’ll see you after the first.
    Gary

            You won't regret that decision

If money is tight you might find it worth while visiting a secondhand book shop or charity shop (thrift store?) I often see good condition DANDR 2002's for less than a pound on their shelves!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!

It never ceases to amaze me of how easy and how effective this ***diet*** is!!

I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

Re: I'm almost ready to start

                Gary,

You and I are very similar. I lost 40 lbs in 2001, felt great, fell off the wagon and now I find myself at 35 y.o. needing to lose 90 lbs to get back to 185! I know this stuff works though so I just hope I can have the discipline. I almost waited like you - I am a big Texas football fan and was going to wait until after the national title game on 1/4 but then I realized I might be able to drop 10 lbs by then so I said to heck with it, let's lose some weight now. I wish you the best - hopefully we will both keep the right mindset after we drop the lbs this time!

Good luck you guys! I'm starting over too. I thought about waiting till January but thought maybe having an induction headache and going back to work (at a daycare) would probably not be a good combination.
I started on monday and thankfully the headache is mostly gone already!

Atkins didn't say 'Calories don't count',
                    he said, 'Don't count calories.'

Atkins makes exercise mandatory - I took up cycling - see last pics at 203lb.
