  • Here we go again.....

    Hello Folks,
Looks like the right place because this is my second time around. Last time I did Atkins I did very well and even managed to keep my diabetes under control. Well I did like I have in the past (with all my other weight loss attempts) and just quit. I know I need to go about this differently this time because the old ways just don't work. My question I guess is what did the successful STAC'ers do differently. The truth is I just don't feel motivated to do anything. Any help would be great!

    Hi rhino - welcome back

Maybe the old trick of making a list would hit home?

Just find a sheet of paper and draw a line down the middle and list on one side why you want to lose this weight, and on the other side what stops you doing it.

Be really honest with yourself and weigh up the pros and cons - if the pros win you know you are ready to go for it all the way this time!!

Did you stay on inductin all the time before? Maybe this time plan a short induction and then move onto OWL which really is the main phase of Atkins and teaches you how your body responds to the food you will be eating in good health for the rest of your life
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Welcome! I'm new to the STAC too, but I found motivation just by thinking of my success the last time around. The first time I tried Atkins, I was skeptical and fumbled a lot with the dos and don'ts. I eventually hit my goal and maintained it for a long time.

I'm back because I fell off the wagon during this past holiday season. This time around I'm not skeptical and I know the dos/don'ts. I know my success with this WOE is all just up to me and my own motivation to succeed. Knowing that has kept me on track these past few days...

      Best of Luck!

welcome back. Avoiding ending up like the diabetics in the nursing home with amputated limbs, on dialysis, blind and with heart trouble should be all the motivation you need.

Write it out what will happen to you if you don't control your blood sugars and lose weight.

then decide how important they are to you and keep them handy and reall get in the habit of thinking about every bite you take from noe on will it help me or hurt me.
I'm sure you value yourself enough to not want to deliberatly hurt yourself.

        Happy low carbing.
