  • Here we go again....

Im back. I fell off the wagon, about...10 months ago. I fell off after 3 weeks of induction and gained back 11 of the 16 pounds I lost. I know this WOE works. What I dont know is if I can turn it into a WOL. I have to give it another go, and I remember this message board being such a big part of my small sucess. I am re-reading the book. I will start again on Saturday, and I am going to make it work this time.

I fell off last time because my boyfreind and I frequently eat out. I am going to be more careful this time. Im gonna make this work, and I am so glad to see so many familar faces are still here.

Welcome back! 280 was my starting weight too. I've lost 30 lbs over the course of one year. You can do this! This is a great place to come for support. Kudos for reading the booka gain.

    Happy Low Carbing!!!

      Hi Mintgreen
      Welcome back.

Do you eat out in the same places regularly? If so perhaps you can talk to the staff there and recruit them as part of your support team? Let them know what you CAN eat and what you can't, and see if they wont help by suggesting which of their menu items are 'legal' for induciton.

If you dont have 'favourite' eating places then you will need to do some homework and find out just which ones are most likely to have 'legal' food that you like and order those each time you eat out.

When I started induction 30 months ago we changed to only eating at cafes where I knew I could order eggs, bacon and mushrooms for lunch, and not worry about what had been added to recipes (like sugar, milk and starches)

Then I asked our local cafe owners if they could alter the meals for me - no potatoes and more salad or broccilli etc - so I could vary my choices and not get bored with what I could eat there.

Now I have no fears or embarrassment about asking for substitutions as I have never been looked at oddly for wanting something different (and healthier) than starchy or sugary menu items.

Most restaurant owners know that to make money they need 'repeat customers' so are only too happy to work with you if you pluck up the courage just to ask.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Thanks for the encouragement The places we frequent are mostly Pizza joints and Chinese resturants. I think for a while its best to just not eat out. Im actually a really great cook, so I am not much worried about it. Ive planned out the first 2 weeks and am really excited about eating some of my favorites again, like southwestern tuna salad and seared tuna asian style. I may even make some duck.

mmmm chinese....thats a toughie. Kent hasn't stepped into a chinese restraunt since he started atkins a couple years ago. Well i'll amend that, there is a place called Hu Hot's around here where you can make up your own bowl of meat and veggies and then they cook it while you wait, it is so gooood!
but hey if you can cook well, go for it!
I'd say about half of the times when we go out now i regret it because kent is able to cook or fry something up at home which tastes 10 times better.
