O.K. this is really embarrassing but I have to ask
...has anyone noticed a serious change with perspiration? I noticed this during my last two attempts at reinduction. I actually stopped this WOL in December because I couldn't find a deodorant that would tame the angry odor. I even tried men's deodorant but the odor of my perspiration was just to manly. I thought taking vitamin C might help from reading something about ammonia smell when working out (although I wasn't working out) and I'm not sure if it helped because I could bear the smell no longer.

Re: Embarrassing underarm odor
I haven't had it, but I praise my anti-perspirant. I use Degree. I even got my hubby to switch to Degree and he loves it, too. You may prefer regular deodorant, but I don't know of any that may help.

Re: Embarrassing underarm odor
You should try Crystal deodorant. It doesn't stop you from sweating, but it does stop you from smelling!! I have no idea which stores might carry it as I only discovered it after we moved over here and so I get it from Drugstore.com.
Here's a link:

I also like the "solid" one (I actually tried this one first because drugstore.com gave me one free with my first order. While I find the roll-on to be more convenient, I think the "solid" works better):

Re: Embarrassing underarm odor
How odd! I've noticed that since I started Atkins, I have no underarm odour at all. This way of life seems to affect us all in different ways...Before and after:

Me too - very little body odour at all! I always put it down to the menopause and less female hormones around.Originally posted by sallyseachangeHow odd! Re: Embarrassing underarm odor
you said amonia smell in your post. Is that really what this odor is? if so that is from too much protein by products, not Atkins. if you had the blood work done before you started that Dr Atkins recommended and your kidney function is normal check to see how much protein you were having. was it over the 30% of your total cals Atkins allows? if so lowering your protein intake should eliminate that smell.by the book atkinseer

Re: Embarrassing underarm odor
Yes Elizellen, I wondered about the menopause too... and it could be that. Had gone into menopause a few months before starting Atkins, but when I took up this WOE everything started up again, and went on like that for a few months. Now I fluctuate, so am really not sure. But I've never heard non-Atkins menopausal women say their body odours lessen...
Did you start Atkins before the change of life, or after? Before and after:

Re: Embarrassing underarm odor
When I started on induction 30 months ago I hadn't had a period for about a year, so had assumed I was over them, but I started again and had two spaced out ones over 3-4 months then nothing.
Weird thing the body, isnt it?!?Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Re: Embarrassing underarm odor
Thanks so much for your posts. I'm not sure that it's an ammonia smell but it smells like I ran 20 miles with no deodorant and went to work immediately after. It doesn't matter how many times I bathe or shower during the day the odor was always there. I would even freshen up during work in order to keep it down but still no luck. I must keep strict watch on my water and protein consumption this time.
I went shopping today so day one begins tomorrow.
