  • If Atkins is changing?

It seems as though Atkins may be changing the structure of their diet to something closer to Weight Watchers. They will probably start changing the recipes that they post on their website to ones that are lower in fat. I really like those recipes, and would like to be able to access them. Is there a way that I can copy the whole library of recipes? I am not a computer whiz, so any help would definitely be appreciated.

    Thank you
    Binsk

I am sure you can just cut and paste the recipes to your word document.
We do not follow the new Atkins WOE as they have changed and added frankenfoods since his death. Most of the recipes are fine thought as long as you stay on your OWL

Yeah, they have betrayed his memory in the worst way. I think it is a shame and I can't believe his wife is letting them get away with it considering now everything belongs to her. Which makes it even more sad because they couldn't do it without her permission, so that means she must be abandoning her late husband's dream.

Thanks Desert. I guess I'm going to be doing a lot of cutting and pasting LOL there must be hundreds of recipes.

Although I agree that the frankenfoods are really not good for induction, the low carb ketchup certainly helped me before.

I do remember Dr. Atkins on that American program The View showing his plan and talking about the Atkins pancake syrup and the Atkins bread and bars. His last appearance was on a Canadian program called Balance where he also was promoting some of these products. I do believe that some of these products work for some people (unfortunately not me) as my blood sugar goes up with a lot of the sugar free chocolate sweetened with sugar alcohols. I do not believe that Dr. Atkins lived long enough after the introduction of these products to see that they had different effects on different people. As most of these products seem to be leaving the shelves, its best to figure out how to eat low carb without them, but I did love that ketchup.

She spends most of her energy with the Robert C. Atkins Foundation. It looks like she's dedicated to proving him right.
She intends to use her husband's fortune to vindicate him and his low-carbohydrate weight-loss program, which has attracted millions of followers even as physicians and scientists wrestle over its merits.

"My goal in life and with the foundation now is to carry out his legacy, and to have science prove that he was right all along," says Mrs. Atkins.

As chair of the board of a newly organized grant-making fund, the Dr. Robert C. Atkins Foundation, Mrs. Atkins will award grants to study the safety and efficacy of low-carbohydrate diets. The fund, which received $40-million from Dr. Atkins's vast estate last year, is expected to receive about $10-million more by the end of this year. http://www.atkinsfoundation.org/press_20040527a.asp
It seems that Mrs. Atkins really has very little say so about what goes on with the company nowadays. Dr. Atkins died in April of 2003 and a hugh part of the company was sold in October of the same year. Here is her reasoning behind that.

Following Dr. Atkins's death, majority ownership of Atkins Nutritional was sold, but the trust that benefits Mrs. Atkins and, ultimately, the foundation, still owns about 14 percent of the company. Mrs. Atkins says she has resigned her positions with the company to avoid the appearance of any conflicts between her foundation role and the company's for-profit interests.
