Hi everyone. My name is Joy and I'm a second time around person too. I was last here in November 2003.

Just wanted to tell everyone a cute story that happened to me this second time around.

After a mild bout with induction flu, I woke up one morning and left my dh to sleep in while I let the dogs out, went to the barn to feed the horses, took the trash out, washed dishes, started laundry and mopped the floor. My poor husband stumbles out of the bedroom one eye opened and says to me "Woman...did you take an energy pill?"

One of those glorious things about Atkins!

I've also noticed a drastic improvement in my "attitude" in general. Just a short two weeks ago, I was basically a snarling, nagging, moody, just plain foul person to be around at home and at work. Today my dh commented on how pleasant I've been the last couple days. Has anyone else noticed an improvement in their mood?

    Re: Energy Pill

ACtually EVERYONE noticed an improvement in my attitude.... I amin the Army National Guard and I had drill last weekend (the 7th). My commander noticed the almost 20 pounds I had lost since we had last drill (need to change my counter) and one of his major comments was "I can't believe howmuch your attitude has changed." I too was a moody *itchy miserable type person....I went to drill ad all I did was complain. This past drill all I did was run up and down the steps doing the stupid errands with a smile on face becuase of how good I felt!!!

WTG on your success so far and I wish you much continued success.

Yes to both. I get up at 4.30 EVERY DAY and feed the cats (5 of 'em) then go to the gym and work out, come home and eat and go to work. Picture me doing this before Atkins!

And I am much happier and less depressed. It's all that good energy food we are eating!

I didn't realize how awful those foods that I *thought* made me feel good were actually bringing me down. Funny isn't how they call them comfort foods, when all they really do is give you discomfort in your life??

That truely is the beauty of low carb!

Keep these thoughts in mind when you begin to feel a craving coming on or if you begin to stumble. It could help keep you true to your goals!

            Re: Energy Pill

Oh my - yes, I too have been SO much more pleasant since detoxing from carbs. When I ate the way I did 3 weeks ago, I would either fall asleep for hours in the middle of the day, or I would be very *itchy.

Going in public and being overstimulated by crowds and noise would bring out the absolute worst in me.

Yet, yesterday, I took DD to the mall to buy shoes and she complimented me, noting how relaxed and calm I was being. She said "I like you like this, mom."

I do too! God help me if I ever go back to eating the way I used to...

              Re: Energy Pill

Years ago an aquaintance of mine told me about a book called "Potatoes not Prozac" and it's about sugar sensitivity...I think I may look it up and give it a read.

I can't believe that just a few weeks ago (before induction) I was thinking about going to see a therapist because I was sooooooooo unhappy at work, at home, anywhere and with everything.

It is scary how true all these posts are. In my second week and I am feeling like a new woman. My family is probably too afraid to ask what is up in fear the old me might return although I may remind my husband that the diet actually helps me. He frowned when I told him I was back on.
