  • Thanks for the Invite to 2nd time around!

I guess I belong here, as I truly am on my second time around with Atkins. Everything has been out of control, since I lost control of my low carb life. So Im here to see how others are handling some of the trials and tribulations of starting over and learn, learn and of course, LOSE!

Looking forward to seeing you all here.

Re: Thanks for the Invite to 2nd time around!

Well, Im the mother of 3+2 (hubby's boys), work full time as an Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Education Specialist. Im an RN/Paramedic and DH is a family physician. We are both diabetics, but Im the one on the insulin pump. He does Atkins with me, but he does it his way and is fairly successful. He is however VERY supportive of me and my weight loss efforts.

2 years ago, I started Atkins and working out at Curves and lost #45 in a matter of about 5 months. It was such a wonderful feeling to have that weight just melt away. I was in a size 16W jeans and hadnt been there since I was in my 20s.

Its amazing what stress can do to a person. I began having female trouble. And then had a rotator cuff issue and all of that curtailed my workouts. I started physical therapy and I kept the weight off but did not lose anymore.

Last year, the female problem became so much worse that I had to have an abd. hyst in August 2005. That REALLY put me behind and all I needed to hear from the doc (both mine and my DH) is that I needed to be eating SOME carb to heal and get better. Now Im here to tell you...that although I KNOW better...I didnt need much more of an excuse to eat like I was going to the chair at midnight! Id had my surgery...I felt miserable and had that "am I still a woman without a uterus" thing going thru my head and just ate and ate everythig in sight!

So you probably know the rest. I gained it all back + about 10 more lbs to-boot.
Ive never been so big, and so tired and so slow. BUT Ive also never been more motivated to make this work.

I just need to know how to handle the stress without using food to help me thru it. There probably isnt any ONE answer, but Im hoping to get some ideas from you all who have found something that works for you.

Well thats it in a nutshell...

Ill be here nearly everyday....and THANKS!
