  • I screwed up

    It was day 11 & I was out of town but still on track & doing really well. We were out to dinner & everything was going well until everyone started drinking. I was drinking iced tea, I wanted a little caffeine to stay up with everyone but didn't want to drink alcohol.

    A friend ordered me a vodka on the rocks, (with good intentions since there is no sugar) & I shouldn't have but I did. From there I had two more & by the end of the night I was munching on cheetos & chips & salsa. I knew better but I thought I could handle it.

    Oh well, I've gotta start over today.

    No need to start over from the beginning. Today is day 12 for you. Now you know what you shouldn't have done and it will be a lesson learned for the future, right? You see how easily we can slip up so now you can formulate a plan for next time you are in this situation. You've been doing well so far. Don't beat yourself up. Learn from your mistake and carry on with Induction. Make sure you drink lots of water today to flush out all those icky carbs and be on the alert for cravings. They may start up again but they'll go away in a day or so. Good luck, stay strong.

      Amen. What Lady in red said. You don't have to feel too terrible, just go on from there, learn from your mistake and pretend it nver happened. The one thing that makes us give up Atkins or go off is because if we cheated, we metally kick ourselves and use all kinds of damaging self talk. Just continue on, one cheat does not a disaster make!

        Ah yes, alcohol can make us weak, best to stay away from it until you feel you have more control. I am a DJ and I work very late nights, because I don't drink (once in a blue moon) I find myself reaching for the diet pepsi to help me stay awake. Apparantly thumping music doesn't cut it haha. But even those times I find the aspartame in the diet pepsi makes me crave as well as stall. Alcohol stalls me for days, and makes me weak when I see all the other bar flies eating their nasty bar fried food UGH. What do you REALLY want more? A trim sexy healthy body? Or some cheap booze and crap junk food? I wish there were a magic bullet to help you take the weight off but we all know that only YOU can make this happen for yourself. Be STRONG! Head up! Move forward! Now go eat some salad! {{Hug}}

          I was really mad at myself but you guys are right - stay positive and move on. I'm not going to start over, I'm going to finish induction & stay positive.

          Thanks for the encouragement, hearing it from you guys made me feel a lot better.

            Good for you
            Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

                I’m with you, alcohol is a trigger for me too. A couple of drinks and CHEETOS attack when my defenses are down. Sneaky little orange worms jump from my hand (where I was just inspecting their shape and size) right between my lips and invaded my mouth.

                I’m pretty sure it wasn’t my fault , but from now on I’m not picking the sneaky salty devils up at all, (I hope).

                Good luck today and have a great tomorrow.

                  Re: I screwed up

                  Alcohol is one of our worst enemies on this WOE. Believe me, I've learned the hard way, myself! First of all, we're much more susceptible to its effects when we're low carbing, and secondly, it can make us totally throw away all of our efforts, just so that we can have more "feel good" stuff (like Cheetos!).

                  I have no problem with light social drinking, but I've become pretty much a tee-totaler, because it's the only way I can stay on the program. Plus I can't stand that "I hate myself" feeling the morning after!

                  Lesson learned, right, Sugargirl?

                    Re: I screwed up

                    I am glad to hear a cheat isn't necessarily a reason to start count at day 1 again. That seemed to always defeat me. For the last year it would be ...day 1, day 2..ugh....day 1, day 2, day 3.....ugh...day 1, day 2, etc. etc. etc. Thanks ladyinred, I needed that. (not that I plan on cheating, however )
