  • Restarting Advice/Question?

To restart Atkins is it neccessary to redo induction? I would like to stay under the 20 carbs but start a little higher up on the scale. I don't really have the carb cravings induction is designed to get rid of. I was thinking if I was really good about monitoring my carbs on fit day I could stay under the 20 carbs in get into ketosis.
I ask because Atkins was the easiest for me when I got to the level that I could add in cottage cheese and nuts/berries which made a fast on the go ( without alot of prep) breakfast possible for me.
    Thanks for your advice/input

I am no expert here, but I believe it IS necessary to restart, but that depends on how long you've been off of it. If it's only been a day or so, I wouldn't restart. If it's been a week or more, I WOULD restart induction. Induction isn't only to get rid of cravings. Induction is to get rid of waste products in the body and change from burning sugar to burning fat, which is exactly what we want. 2 weeks of induction isn't so long and you can start moving up the rungs fairly quickly.

I'm sure someone else will come along with a better opinion.

      Danielle,

I think you should do induction again, if you have been off plan for longer than a few days. As Kate pointed out, there are several reasons for induction - not only to get rid of the carb cravings, but to readjust your body and mindset to eating properly, eating enough veggies, cleaning the metabolism...

Of course you can do a modified low carb way of eating without doing a clean indutcion, but I wouldn't call it Atkins
