What inside and outside influences keep you motivated on Atkins?

What is one thing you VOW to do before the end of your life?

Who is the most influential person in your life, and why?

What inside and outside influences keep you motivated on Atkins?

When I first started back in June, the main motivator to keep me on the straight and narrow was PAIN. I was in severe arthritic pain and was having major issues with even just walking.

It's not 100% gone, but my motivation comes from more of a health place.

AS someone who has alot of weight to lose, I realize that the end result and goals that I have and wish for have to be realistic in nature.

I shoot for averageness. I would like to be average size 12-14 someday. That would open up alot of doors for me as an actress and allow me to play alot of different typse of roles than the one I have been playing (character, villain, comedic, etc.)

What is one thing you VOW to do before the end of your life?

To continously quest for spiritual truth.

Who is the most influential person in your life, and why?

Over the years, there have been many people at many different times, but when I think back on the big picture I would have to say my dad, Sonny DeCosta.

WHen I was 8 he became ill with heart issues. Because of this he stayed home for work and assumed the position of homemaker while my mom went to work. He became by best friend and role model for my life because he was the one who was at home. He taught me everything I knew about cooking and shopping, etc. His illness probably was the first cause of my eating issues, since I was constantly worrying about his death. I used to eat to calm my nerves. AS he was my confidante, I was also his. WE discussed his fears about dying, and even when I was 9 or 10 years old, I took it upon myself to try to hold the family together thru his illness.

The best part of it was the late night talks. WE would sit up until 1 or 2 in the morning discussing things. He taught me the importance of love and devotion to our country at a time when people HATED the USA for being in Vietnam. he taught me how to think like a man, and not be competitive and catty like some women are. He taught me the importance of trust and love in relationships.

He died when I was 15. He left an indelible mark on me. If I were to give you a list of my best friends throughout my life, you would see that 90% have been men. I am a very girly girl, but I lean toward men when it comes to fraternizing.

Sharron, what was the most enjoyable part you've played? Least enjoyable? Most difficult?

I can actually answer that very easily. They were all the same part!

In 2003, after doing theatre for 12 years I was cast in my first lead role, as Hortense, ZOrba's Girlfriend/wife in "Zorba"It was a thrill to be responsible for such a large role, and I enjoyed working with Zorba immensely. He was a long time friend and I was close to hm and his family also...

            WEll........

His wife was also in the show. The scenes that he & I did together were mostly smaller, more intimate scenes, except for our wedding scene. That included the entire cast. The night we staged the wedding, ZOrba's wife was acting really freaky. Yes, I had to kiss him. Actually several times during the show. It was all very professional, friendly and we were just doing our job.

The week before we opened was a nightmare. We were finally in costumes and I was wearing sandals and ZOrba was wearing boots. He accidentally kicked my big toenail OFF (YIKES...I Still cringe) during a dance. I just put a sock on it and kept going.

The next night, we found out that our costumer had to fly out to Vegas for an emergency, WHose costumes weren't done???? MINE!!! I spent the entire evening Sewing in the back while everyone else did scene work. Yeah That was fun.

Still wearing a moon boot from the toenail issue, on the Next night I was reprimanded by ZOrba's wife because "Those kisses are getting a little long, aren't they?" It freaked me out so bad. I mean, here I was, @ 300+ lbs. trying to act like I was some semblance of SEXY and I find out ZOrba's wife is timing our kisses.

            It was shattering.

I somehow got over it for the good of the show and we opened to a sold out house and ran for 3 weekends. People never knew what I was carrying around until after the show. I didn't want to make a big deal out of the jealousy thing.

But I guess I am the proudest of that role, what I accomplished, what I chose NOT TO DO (make a big drama out of it) and yet it was the hardest thing I ever did in my life.

Another role I really enjoyed was I played 1/6th of Che in Evita. OUr director broke up the role between 6 of us. It was SWEET!
