  • Back to Atkins for another 25 lbs

    Hi All,

I started Atkins again yesterday and I made it through a whole day, so I think this time might stick. I was originally on it a couple years back and it worked--I dropped 40lbs in about four months (194 to 154) but these last two years have crept up on me so I'm back at it, with a goal of 150. I was a lurker here for the entire time I was on Atkins and it really helped--so now I'm back, but posting this time .

So in addition to changing the way I eat, I'm back on my bicycle back and forth to work and on errands. My bike was the reason I was able to stay off atkins for so long without gaining really, but I haven't ridden it since the summer, hence the spare tire...

So I just wanted to introduce myself and thank everyone. For every person who loses because they participated in the forums, I bet there are five more who succeed because they read the other person's posts. You all rock.

You'll definitely succeed! I started recently as well. Exercise and lots of water and supplemts really help I found. These forums are great!

Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Yes, welcome, and as you can see there are many of us who are just starting. In my first 2 weeks I noticed that the weight doesn't come off as quickly the second time and appetite isn't as suppressed either. It does become easier to control temptations and cravings but it seems just a bit harder. On Atkins the first time I lost about 12 lbs in induction and today ends my second round of induction and i lost 4.5 lbs and that was all in the 1st week I didn't drop any weight the 2nd. I will be checking measurements thursday. I'm posting everyday and reading post and exercising and I know it will go with time and patients. Hang in there and things will get better.

The people here are very knowledgeable and helpful.

Thanks all! I know that I'll make it through here with all your help...and lots of water and exercise!

I think one of the things that made it easy-ish last time is that right off the bat I was losing weight--I was addicted to the scale just because it was so fun to watch the numbers change (it seemed like everyday!), I liked the challenge. That helped me through the times when the numbers didn't change so quickly, like where I am now.

I haven't actually weighed myself yet, I just know that my goal is to lose the innertube

That is exactally why I think I had difficulty maintaining, I now longer got that thrill of watching the numbers go down, knowing I am suceeding, that I am in control and mastering the challenge.

But if I don't weigh, I cheat and fool myself into thinking I am getting away with it until it seems like a large maount when i finally weigh and I am down about how I let myself reagain!!!

But i am going to work out a reward system for monthly rewards for maintaining and a large yearly reward every year I maintain and something really great at 5 years etc... I'm going to write it up like a contract and make a poster to track it.

yeah that is a good idea. Happens to me too, obviously. I think I need to take the advise I saw somewhere on here and throw out all my clothes that are too big for me because it is too easy to go back to wearing them!
