  • Here I go again...

Hello. I'm Joyce. I have restarted Atkins yet again. I am a 35 year old school teacher from the DFW area. I am on day 8 of induction. The scale registered a 10 pound loss this morning so I feel I'm off to a good start.

I've know for a while that I was wanting to get started back. On Dec. 29th I went for my well woman and talked to my Dr. about PCOS. I've also "thought" I had it but didn't feel like having a Dr. just tell me to loose weight so I basically stuck my head in the sand. She did my bloodwork and between the hormonal issues and raised glucose levels, has decided to refer me to an endocrinologist. I had originally thought to wait until after the endo. appt. but as I couldn't get an appointment until Mar. 13th (grrr) I decided to start back last Monday.

Thus far things have gone well. I had a couple of days of Induction flu but not horribly so. I've gotten 80 to 100 oz. of water in a day. I need to increase that a bit more. I'm still a little foggy on some details. I'm sure as I read more and more will come back. Thus far I've just stuck with the basics.

I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone here.

Hey, Neighbor! It's great that you've decided to climb back on the wagon RIGHT NOW! You'll be so glad you did when your clothes start getting loose and your glucose begins to stabilize.

What level do you teach? My daughter is a first-year high school teacher in Joshua this year. Boy, it's been tough, but hopefully she'll adjust.

    Glad to have you aboard.

I teach 2nd grade in Irving. This is my 10th year. It does get better. I'm not sure easier is the right word but at least you know what to expect from year to year and are able to prepare better. The first year (or two or three) can really be extra stressful. The same kind of thing can happen when you change schools or grade levels. I'm sure she'll adjust. Next year will be better and the next one will be even better than that.

Second grade seems like it would a lot of fun to teach. I sort of think my DD's crazy to be teaching kids who are only a little younger than she is! She has one student who is only 6 months younger, although nobody knows it. She graduated from high school early and pushed through college quickly. After graduating in May at age 21, she's already over halfway through her Master's. LOL! I hope she doesn't burn herself up!

How are you doing on plan? I know you'll be so happy with yourself if you stick with it. Good luck!

I'm preparing to start induction tomorrow, and I personally find it much easier to stay on track if I am accountable to someone, so I wonder if I can run my induction scedule by you guys on a daily basis. By that I mean I will post my daily food choices, and just the knowing that someone will be monitoring them with me will keep me on track. I've re-read the book and think I've got everything right...
