Ok, so I have been on induction since Jan 10th and have lost 10lbs all together-very slowly. Should I stay on induction? What gives? I am being faithful, I promise. Exercise 5 or 6 days a week, staying under 20 carbs each day, drinking between 3 and 4 liters of water each day, and here I am stuck. I guess I just need to hear a good word! I am graduating from college in December, and I want so badly to look good! I already feel great, and have no carb cravings (actually I've developed kind of an aversion to sweets lol). I want those scales to move so badly. My measurements aren't moving, either. I did go to the doctor this week and had a bunch of blood drawn, to check my thyroid and cholesterol, etc...I have read all the stuff about the loss being slower the second time around etc...Somebody give me some words of wisdom!

Hi, shoecrazy, you have done and are doing a fantastic job on your weight loss! You have already lost 10lbs in less than 5 weeks which is really astounding. It sounds like you are eating, exercising, and drinking your water faithfully...doing everything right. Weight loss is not linear. Moochiecat did a great thread on this which you may want to read.

Also, if you are just starting an exercise plan, your muscles may retain fluids at first, due to fiber breakdown and repair. Mine sure did when I started weight training. The water will be released from the muscles in time.

Congrats on your hard work and success so far! Your dedication to this WOE will be rewarded with continued weight loss, shoecrazy.

Great 10 pounds down is awesome. I think I lose slower at times and faster at others. You are finishing the last of college? I don't know about you but for me that equalled some stress with making sure I passed everything and everything was in place for graduation. I don't seem to lose as fast during times of stress. But OH BOY if I am not on Atkins times of stress would equal a 10-15 pound gain for sure!!!

If you can stand it maybe you should quit weighing for awhile and just go with how you feel and how your clothes fit.

As for whether or not to proceed to OWL that is up to you but there is no reason to stay on induction unless you want to. Some times the added 5 carbs in extra vegies on the first rung helps us to feel more satified, also sometimes people loss more weight on OWL than extended induction. There is a sticky about going on to OWL. http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ead.php?t=5780 that may help you with your decision

SOmeday I would like to make a line graph of my weight loss journey it is definetely not straight down. It has many straight accross period and some up periods but overall a trend down is all I'm concerned about

Thanks guys, wow I never thought about it that way...20%...sounds so much better to me! I am going to read up on OWL now, I was afraid that it would make me stop losing, but I see now from the stickies that I was mistaken. Thanks for being here!

Good for you we have some OWLers lose more in OWl then they did in induction extended. Wannbe just dropped several pounds in just afew weeks of OWL after not moving the scales at all for several weeks in extended induction. woo hoo for her!

I'll tell you i'm losing way slower this time around than I did the first time. I'm only down 6lbs since I started on 1/18. This is rather disappointing to me but there really isn't any alternative to atkins as far as I can see so the only option is to keep on trudging along!

That's how I feel too...there's no alternative. I'm over the carb craving, so I wouldn't even think of going back to eating that way, I just keep plugging along!

RationalBeing.....since restarting Atkins 1/5 I have lost 6 pounds....and I have been reasonably good....I have not always been drinking enough, and I had a meeting with a bag of sugar-free sweets....but all that is behind me, but I am still a slow loser....but I'm just thinking about all the pounds that I did NOT GAIN!!!! YAY!!!

Thinking about pounds you did not gain is a wonderful way of looking at it. I'm so glad you pointed that out!! Before I re-started Atkins I think I was gaining weight every week. So while the 7 pounds I have lost are just the beginning, they're also 7 pounds I didn't GAIN!!

                    Thanks!

I know what you guys are saying, but first time around on atkins I lost somewhere around 15lbs in the first month. This month it might be 7lbs. Its very disappointing because 3 to 4lbs of your initial loss are nothing but water, so really I'll only have lost 4lbs of fat in the first month - compared to like 11lbs last time around. But once again there really isn't an alternative to atkins, if I only lose 4lbs a month I really have no choice. Heh.

My first time on Atkins i lost a lot on induction too.....
But hey, a stall or a 1 or 2 pound gain a week.....I would go for the stall anytime...
