  • To Fight Again

OK --- this sounds silly. I lost over 100lbs doing Atkins. I added 10lbs back quickly and held it at that level for 3 yrs. It's been easy for me to keep my carbs low. However, between Thanksgiving & Christmas I've added another 6lbs on - and it is just enough for me to feel too heavy. I really want to make a run to get the gain off.

But it's been hard. A few days on low carb and I feel dreadful. I've been getting dizzy. It's not the Atkins Flu - but something a little worse.

    Any tips?

Are you getting enough carbs? Eating your veggies? Drinking your water? Taking your vitamins? Maybe you should post a menu so we can see what's up. If you've been doing everything correctly then maybe you should add a few extra carbs for a couple of days. Dr. Atkins suggests doing this if you are feeling really awful and then drop them back down again when you feel better. He says there's no reason to feel bad on this woe. But maybe we should have a look at your menu first.

ladyinred has good advice. You aren't keeping your carbs too low are you? Make sure you are getting in all the veggies. Hydrate yourself well. Hopefully you'll be feeling great with that extra weight shed before long. goodluck.. *S

        Hi!

IAs I said, I've been doing this for a long time. I'm reasonably experienced, but I'm just not able to cut down to 20 like I did before. It's been such a big success that I'm a little out of joint.

        Typical diet:

Morning: black coffee (or esspresso) and eggs of some sort (cheese omelet, or fried eggs w/ turkey sausage).

Lunch - Salad & tuna or chicken ceaser w/o dressing or courtons.

Dinner - fish or chicken and another salad.

Snacks - atkins breakfast bar or the protein bar (coconut - my favorite).

Just cut out anything artificial. Eat only mean, cheese, eggs and the lowest carb veggies (like raw broccoli).

Do that and you'll be all good on the carb count

I'm getting back on the schtick. It's funny. When you've been on OWL as long as I have - you kind of lose your edge for low-carb for weight loss.

I've been swalling my psyllium husks - but I've noticed the ...er... constipating side of Atkins seems a little worse when you restart. Is that just in my head ... or ... well, you get the idea.

I've been drinking tons of water for it.
