  • I'm Back For More! (2nd Time)

This is my second time around doing Atkins. I started again on Jan.3rd, 2006. Haven't been here since August 9th, 2004. I've gained 40 pounds since then. UGH!

This time around seems almost like the first time; induction flu, stalls, and all the ups and downs. I've lost 11 pounds so far. Six pounds the first 2 weeks. I'm doing the extended induction until I get bored with the limited food choices..

I'm working out between 5 and 7days a week, drinking lots of water, and no cheats! I have my book ready when I need it.

I've really missed this board. It has alot of good advice.

From a fellow Army Spouse, welcome aboard. Wisconsin? Not a lot of regular Army there, eh? Hey, that is okay, I am in Orlando.

It sounds like you are totally tracking to where you want to be. Water, exercise? You are doing it all... Great job!

Thanks Wannabethintoo and Shannon! Im more motivated this time around than last. Maybe because I have more to lose?

Shannon, my husband is full-time AGR. There's a post all the way up here in Wisconsin called Fort McCoy.... I love this area. Its alittle colder than what we are used to, but I love smaller towns.

Thanks again for the welcome back!

My dh is acquisition. We have a PEO in Orlando. It is great. We love it here, but we are originally Floridians. Small towns have a lot of appeal, but we moved into what we thought was kind of a small town but was really a suburb of Orlando and we moved into a new development that has added 900 new families. No longer a small town. Of course, we were part of the problem. We still like it though.

Hey, Lady, celebrate the 11 lbs. lost! Extended induction sounds like a great plan. I haven't decided what I am going to do just yet. I am day three (almost four!) of induction (again...) and we will see!

            Shannon,

Some days ( especially when the wind chill is -35 ) I wish I was in a sunny place like Orlando! lol

Well good luck on your return! I had bad migraines for 4 days when I started back up but none since then.

Last time I had a lot of trouble with stalls and finding something to eat on the road when we traveled.( We travel alot) The kiss of death for me was refeeding. I WON"T be doing that this time around....

What did you find to eat on the road? That is a problem I have right now. I am traveling next week-end and sometimes I just need something convenient.

Re: I'm Back For More! (2nd Time)

                Shannon,

Well I started off with a cooler that had hard boiled eggs, some celery sticks, some cold bacon, mayo, some carb-well ranch dressing in alittle container, and some pork rinds. Back in 2004 Carl Jr./Hardees had the 6 dollar burger wrapped in a huge lettuce leaf....it was quite yummy. Burger King has the grilled chicken salad. I just pick out the carrots and carry my own dressing. It's more than 2 cups of salad so I just save it and eat it the next day. But last resort, I stopped at Mc'D's and ordered their single burgers w/o ketchup, mayo, cheese., and of course I didn't eat the bun.... Now I read today where restaurants inject their beef with dextrose and lactose for flavoring and tenderness....What's up with that? I'm a big fan of Outback Steakhouse. I'm just wondering if they inject theirs....

I'll be traveling to Panama City Beach, FL the first week in May and i'm alittle nervous to see what is available out there now since it seems alot of fast food joints have jumped off the Atkins wagon...

My Walmart up here doesn't sell anymore Carb Well or Carb Options, or anyhting Atkins for that matter. I can still buy my flax seed in the vitamin isle. Seems like they are now on the South Beach Band Wagon...go figure. I also mail order my Dukes Mayo which has no sugar in it. You can order jars, squeeze bottles, or indiividual packets at a reasonable price.

                Hope this helps.

Re: I'm Back For More! (2nd Time)

That helps tremendously. Where do you mail order your stuff? I always forget about the bunless burger when I travel and I get a salad, then I get frustrated because the salad is hard to eat in the car and i am often to much in a hurry to stop. Sigh.

I am originally from Panama City, my first twenty years. I will be there again this week-end. My brother and sister in law live at the beach and we are there constantly. Let me know if you need any information from PCB. I would be happy to help. Where are you staying?

Re: I'm Back For More! (2nd Time)

Welcome back!!! I too am a returning "loser" ...I feel so much better now than I did when I was eating all that carbage.

Hardee's still does the low carb burger...just order no ketchup and be aware that one of their burgers has bread and butter pickles on it insted of dill...I'm not sure which one so i just always say Low carb ____ burger no ketchup and dill pickles please...they never give me any problems and their burgers are juicy and thicker than anywhere else fast food I have been to. I can even eat these in the car, with extra napkins

If in a pinch I get 1$ double cheese burger from Mcdonalds I order it with mayo only and the mayo helps the cheese not stick to the bun which I use to hold the burger but peel it back...do not eat it...and then toss it

Thanks Becca for the info! I really loved their burgers! But I stear away from the mayo on the burgers since it *might* contain sugar.

Shannon, we are actually staying at the Destin Recreation Area since it's military friendly and driving to PCB for my step-son's wedding. I'm soooo excited. We used to go there every weekend when my husband was stationed at Fort Benning in the late 80's. I actually put in my will that I want my ashes scattered along the beach at sunset...lol We had alot of great times there. Plus the seafood diners were to die for.

This is where I order my mayo:

                      http://orders.cfsauer.com/showitemlist.asp?category=37

You might want to check the grocery stores down there for Duke's mayo. I know quite a bit of stores sell it in the southern states. It's the only mayo I know of that's sugar-free.Hope this helps.
