Hi Everyone,
I lost 60 lbs during 2003 and left the program (after getting myself off of all my diabetic meds) due to irritable bowel, which became unmanageable on all the fat in the Atkins plan. I've gained every pound back, and a couple more. As I start on insulin, I find myself drawn back to Atkins to control my sugar levels. Even a regular DM diet doesn't control my sugar. Benefiber has been helping the IBS, so I pray that it doesn't act up again. The only way I can do that is to avoid any carbs over 20-30 gms/day.
Has anyone else experienced a total intolerance to many carbs at all after being on Atkins before? It seems to me that since my first attempt in 2003, I can't swallow a carb at all without a significant sugar spike. It's as if I reset some sort of carbohydrate metabolic thing in my body with the initial Atkins plan, which hasn't gone away.
I'd be interested in any comments and support you can offer. Thanks!
