    Re: struggling.....

congrats on your work doing it for a week. You have 35 pounds to lose from your siggy so anywhere form 1.75 to 3.5 is what would be in the normal range for someoneyour size. Are you measuring?many times when Atkins ketosis kicks in fluids replace fats oin tissues and inches of fat leave while scales say no change.

Are you eating any foods that yor metabolism doesn't handle well?

what you doing for the exercise part of your Atkins? post a few menus and we can see if we can spot anything going on for you.

hello atta girl! all i can really say is that you need to let your body play catch up! It's running around in circles at the moment wondering where all the carbs went and is now searching out fat for its new fuel source! Stay away from the franken foods and don't go over the 3 servings of splenda a day!
hope that helps, you can do this!!!

For me, it was common to lose in the first two weeks, then NOTHING for weeks 3-5, then Whooshie, a sizeable drop in week 6. Remember, you don't have the lose the weight FAST, you only have to lose it ONCE.

hang in there kat! congrats on starting up again. I know it sucks when the weight stays stuck. I didn't have induction problems, but I've had to fight for every ounce since New Year's. The 3 lbs I've lost in the past 2 months is really disappointing, but I'm hanging in there. I know it will come off eventually, and I'm so used to this way of eating by now, I don't mind waiting, and I can always tell myself I just gained some muscle weight... it will get easier, I promise. just make sure you're exercising, drinking all your water, and sticking to induction foods and you'll be fine. good luck!
Sorry everyone. I've had to abandon Atkins. After slipping up, I gained back everything and more. I fully believe in and support Atkins, I know it works, but it's too hard for me. I'm following my own plan now, exercising more, eating less in general and healthier, still focusing more on veggies and fruits and whole grains and much less processed junk and bad carbs. I still visit here occasionally, so I will keep my stats listed here when I do. I wish everyone the best on this program or any others that work for you.

thanks guys! i eat in a college dorm - so basically, i've been eating salad with cucumbers ?(with olive oil and salt as a dressing) with tuna or chicken breast. for dinner, its usually the same thing with a different kind of meat. its frustrating to have so few options! and the kitchen isn't open before class, so i usually am not able to eat in the mornings. do any of you have suggestions for ways that i could mix things up? i really appreciate the support! thanks guys!!!!!

                  Well, here's the thing......

The instant gratification mindset is a huge part of what got most of us big butts to begin with.

You are not always going to be rewarded for being good.
You are not always going to see consistant trends downward. It'll go up, plateau, go down - whatever it does. Your job is to hang on for the ride.

You're doing just fine. Try to not be so reactionary. Give your body time to adjust and give yourself a bit of credit

Get thee to google and start digging for low-carb recipes. The only real limitations you have are the food lists and your imagination.

                    Re: struggling.....

I did the exact thing your doing this is my third time on atkins. The first time I did it the pounds melted away. I lost nearly 50 in about two months. The second time I went on I couldn't make the scale budge even after a month I had only lost 3 pounds and sadly I quit....I am by no means telling you to do that. It was a horrible feeling I know what you are going through. Hang in there and the scale will start moving. Thankfully I gave Atkins another try, I don't know what in the world made the scale not budge for me that one time but this time so far ( I am knocking on my wooden desk as I type) the pounds are coming off pretty steady again. Honestly going back to Dr. Atkins book is the only answer I have, this type of dieting....the on and off type is what causes our bodies to be so resistant. Give your body a little more time (I know you hate hearing that because I could kick someone every time they told me that ) And I am sure the pounds will start to come off.

Something I do when things slow down a bit is just remind myself how much better I do feel ... sometimes that has to be what gets your through to the next weigh-in! For me, I feel so much better than pre-Atkins, I remind myself of that often!

You're doing great! Keep it up!

thanks for the encouragement my body does feel a lot better, even if the weight is barely moving.

i have access to a full kitchen, but the larger problem is that i dont have the time (or knowledge) to cook. i only have 30 minutes for meals and there are several other people who use the kitchen during those times. i've been keeping lots of tuna on hand and eating that as a snack.
if anyone has any suggestions for how to make the kitchen situation work - that would be great!

Hang in there, you are doing great. Perhaps you could make mini quiches in the evening and eat them for breakfast the next day. If you make enough of them, you can freeze them.

The good part is that you can customize them to your taste. I bake mine in oiled or buttered muffin tins. For 6 muffins, beat three eggs with a fork, add a tablespoon of cream, some salt and pepper. Bake at about 350 for 15-20 min.

I have added these things to the muffins in the past.
                              Roasted red peppers
                              sliced mushrooms
                              Feta cheese
                              Cheddar cheese
                              sliced ham
                              sliced bacon
                              spinach
                              sliced sausage
                              hot peppers

You can eat them cold, or put them in the microwave for 10-15 seconds. They are good for lunch with a salad or some green beans.

                              Hope this helps.
