    Induction -- Day Five

Two more days and our first week will be over! Yeah!!!

Now I'm just trying to start planning my eating for the weekend so I'm not blindsided by hunger and fall off.

Last night we had pork tenderloins with some cauliflower and spinach...YUMMY! I felt REALLY GOOD afterwards and the rest of the night. My tummy was happy and satisfied. So, maybe the worst is behind us...we are all coming through this together.

I didn't get online much last night because my brother called and said he was stopping in for a visit on his way from Chicago to Louisiana, so we cleaned until 10 pm and went to bed. I've done some odd and end things this morning, but I think we're basically ready for him to come. I suggested ribeyes or hamburgers on the outside grill and he said he's been wanting a grilled hamburger, so it will work in with Induction really well. Yeah! I'm so excited about seeing him -- it has been about two years. Ever since my Mom died (1996) he has hibernated from life (it seems). No word from him unless I try to contact him...but in the past month I've heard from him about three times! It makes me really happy that he is finally reaching out.

Anyway, I thought it might help if I post the meals I plan to cook this weekend on this thread -- I just don't have time this morning to look them up so I will try to do it at lunch today from work. If anyone else wants to try to plan their weekend food and post it here, it might help all of us. (Sometimes I run out of ideas.) I will be stopping at the grocery on my way home from work so I'm open to anything at this point.

We had some leftover quiche from yesterday for breakfast and I'm happy to say that it is good leftover. Yummy!

Well, I need to run and finish getting ready. I hope you have a great start to your day!

    Your little Induction buddy,

First kkat thanks for waking up bright and early and starting this thread for us every morning. Second I feel like I am hitting my stride and I am easily going to make it through induction. I woke up with a slight headache, but nothing a couple of bottles of water can't solve.

      Goodmorning Induction Friends,

Didn't have cable this morning, so I didn't have internet or phone either. Now I have to catching up to do. Sheesh!

Kat, I'm so happy that your brother is coming to visit you. That is great! We don't live by any of our families, so when someone comes we get really excited too. Have a great time catching up with him!

Thanks for the meal ideas. I have been spending some time on that as well. I have taken some pork loin ribs out of the freezer. I saw a recipe somewhere on here and it sounded so good!! They are the bone out kind that are really cheap. I will have to find it for us. Those will be for Sunday, since they have to cook for five hours. I think we will have burgers and salads tomorrow, maybe BLT roll ups too. So I think I have planned well. Which is good, because after all the kids soccer games on Saturday mornings, we are usually ravished by the time we get home.
My husband is doing this WOE with me, he usually takes the leftovers to work with him.

Guess what? I used one of my ketostix today and it showed that I am in ketosis!! Woo Hoo! It is only at the small level, but that's ok. Today small, tomorrow moderate hopefully!!!

I still have not gotten on the scale and I am surprised, because I usually can't stay off it in the mornings.

      Have a great day ALL!

Congratulation on the adoption! That is so exciting!! I've heard that it is easier to adopt a child from overseas than a child from here...is that true?
Kat, I have heard that too, but I'm sorry I have no idea. The little girl we are adopting is a very distant cousin's child. So distant I'm not sure she's still a cousin.
Anyway, her mom is really mentally ill and she was taken and put in foster care, when we started trying to get her out, they (DSS) told us not unless we were willing to adopt her too. Well, how could we say no to a beautiful little girl needing a home and a mom and dad to love her?!! She has been with us for four months and is adjusting amazingly well, considering she had ever set eyes on us only two times in her life.
          We adore her!!!
I will keep you posted on the adoption.
          Thanks for asking,
          Erin

            Hey Induction buddies!
Well, it looks like day 5 is going great for all of us, and we're all making food plans for the weekend. Today is the first day I've been headache free, and I'm feeling a lot of energy too! I haven't been able to stay away from the scale though. I weighed this morning and was down six lbs. already! There's nothing like the visual validation that the scale provides....
For this weekend, I'm having grilled tofu tonight (no meat on Fridays of Lent) and I've got chicken marinating for tomorrow in sugarfree maple syrup and mustard with herbs. I'm making enough so that there will be plenty leftover. I'm also thinking of making the tuna greenbean casserole that was listed as "comfort food" from the link you sent the other day kat.
I'm going to a big party last night, and I don't think I'll be tempted by the food and goodies so much as the alcohol. A glass of wine sounds VERY tempting right now. We'll see how "good" I can be.

              Why, you're welcome!!

Yes, today is a better day for me too. No headache, no woozy feeling...a little more normal and stabilized it seems. Yeah!

I'm so excited about him visiting! I can hardly wait to leave work!! I'm taking off an hour early so I can get home and finish up some odds and ends and start the burgers.

Those BLT roll ups sound good. Let me know what you think of them. I'm glad you liked that recipe site. I printed the recipes out and put them in a cute binder for my kitchen. So, most of them are at my fingertips when I'm meal planning and doing low carb.

Hey, I have ketostix, but I've forgotten about them until now -- thanks for mentioning it! That is exciting about being in ketosis already!! I thought it would take a few days for it to show up? Sounds like you are staying on target and doing great!!

Hey Little Buddy (or should I say "littler" buddy)

CONGRATULATIONS on the six pounds!! Hum...now we all need to find something that weighs six pounds and see what you lost...oh, I know...a five pound bag of sugar is pretty close...WOW! Those feel pretty heavy, ay? You'll soon be at 10 pounds and then we can take a 10 pound bag (or two five pound bags) and hold them and see what's gone. Amazing! Keep up the good work!!

Headache free here too! Yippee! The worst part is over!!!!

I hope you have fun at your party...maybe you could bring some Diet Rite with you? Lemon water with Splenda...? Anything to be good...?

                        Re: Induction -- Day FIVE!!

Did I forget to say that it is...

                        FRIDAY!!!!!

                        Yippee!!

Well, I'm feeling better and I think I'm past the worst part of Induction...it should be smooth sailing now.

One sign that I noticed today was that our boss was buying us lunch and he forgot to bring it back with him. In the meantime I had went to the grocery and when I returned I realized that I hadn't gotten hungry yet. Oh my! The past few days I was READY to eat around 11 am everyday, if not sooner. So, that is my first sign that I'm past the worst part. (BTW, we did get our lunch, just about two hours later than normal.)

Another sign is that my pants are feeling a little looser in the legs and the tummy. Now, it is not anything major, but a slight difference...and I'll take anything at this point. So, another exciting change this week.

Now...I KNOW I need to start exercising again so that I'll get that jolt of energy and feel springy in the mornings...I think if I just give myself a good push that the rest will come easy. Anyone help push me? (giggle)

My menu plans are (subject to change):

Tonight: Grilled Hamburgers (no bun), fresh green beans and cauliflower.

Saturday: Eggs and Sausage for breakfast (I love them!), Taco Salad for lunch and grilled Ribeyes for supper (with veggies)

Sunday: _________ (fill in the blank) - maybe leftover Taco Salad for "brunch", Tilapia with fresh veggies (squash and spinach) for suppie.

I have salad fixin's so I can add those in as needed and also a ton of chicken in my freezer -- so some items can vary depending on the mood. But, I feel my kitchen is pretty "safe" right now except for the foods I brought for Matt and my brother. Whatever is left I'll pack up with my brother to take with him or freeze for Matt to bring to work.

WATER for TODAY: A little slow. (I'm turning to look at my half full bottle.) I should be through with it by now and starting on the next bottle before I leave. Hum...give me a few minutes and I'll start chugging it down.

Well, this is your Atkins Buddy, Kat, signing off for now. Stay tuned for more from all our other buddies.

                            I'm 35 (I think ) and am 5'5"

I could go for a Diet Rite about now!
Today every time I passed one of the stores where I used to buy Atkins Advantage Bars, I wanted to cut someone off and swerve into the parking lot. LOL But I didn't! I had lunch out with a friend today and I had a chef salad and for the first time ever, I brought my salad dressing with me. Which reminds me, it is still in my purse.

We chatted for a long time, so long that the waiter brought my third glass of water in a "to go" cup. Sorry Mr., but we had a lot of catching up to do.

I'm glad you are feeling better in your clothes, Kat! Today I feel yucky! I feel big and bloated again, but I have been pee'in, like all day and night for three days, so I know I'm not. I hope it passes soon!

Well everyone enjoy their evenings! I'm going to fix dinner and try to watch my TiVo'd Amazing Race with my family. When I watch, I always say, if I lose a lot of weight, I want to do it! My hubby and I would be one of the couples always fighting. Hee Hee.
