  • Induction Again!!

    Hi All!

Well, I finally decided to break down and go back to induction. I went from 300+ down to 199 on extended Atkins. 199 was short lived. I stayed at 210 on OWL - which for my height and build is "fine" - for 3 years!! However, this last holiday season I added 8 lbs. I'm back on full, disciplined induction and 5 lbs are already gone by day 5!!!

If there are any other second-timers - one thing I noticed is that ketosis seemed to kick in much slower. When I was hardcore dieting - it seemed to take a 2 days. I don't know whether my body is used to it, but it took a full 4 days for ketosis to kick in. Sound normal?

Anyway - a little lighter and feeling great!!

Welcome back Thinker! Hope you find it as successful this time as you did the last time, and that you feel even better soon. Sorry it took you a little longer to get back into ketosis this time, but I think the second or more time around it's normal for it to take longer. I'm a second timer, and it took me a few days more than it did the first time also. You're doing great, grats on the pounds already lost. I'm sure you have your DANDR, right?

      Hi!!

I have read it cover-to-cover. I actually tried a short-lived half-baked atkins early on w/o reading. Bought the book. Read it; read it again; read it again.

I don't follow all of the good-doctors recommendations. I still consume reckless amounts of caffeine. I don't drink as much water as a I should - but I'm pretty good. I do not exercise regularly - although I should. I do take psllium husks - but not religiously. But these seem to be minor infractions (except for exercise).

Otherwise, I'm a long time OWL. I hope I can ride this wave down to 205ish. That'd be great.

I completely understand the exercise part. I went 15 years without a lick of it. It's not easy or fun for me yet, but I got a member here to put me on a weight lifting program using the equipment I have available to me, and since I not only want to be a healthy weight, but FIT, and so badly, I'm suffering and getting it done. Try to find something you like, even if you just start with walking around the block, parking REALLY far away in parking lots, anything! You will thank yourself, believe me. I finally just had to decide that it was something I could do. I was always of the thought that I would never be one of "those" people, you know, the ones with muscle. But you know what...... I can be, and you can be too.
