    Induction -- Day Six

    Hey Induction Buddies!

Sorry about getting on here so late today...two people in our office were sick Thursday and Friday and today I have a scratchy throat and running nose -- feeling sorta blah (with my brother coming in this afternoon too -- sniff).

I just took some heavy-duty medicine so I hope it will kick in soon because I still have some last minute things to do.

I'm going over to Induction -- Day Five and bring your last messages over so if anyone missed them or wants to reply, we'll have them with us today.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend so far! One more day and we can see how we've done for the first week (or we can wait the two weeks for Induction). Oh, did everyone do their inches? If you want, we can post inches and pounds lost for the two weeks...?

    Be back.

~I will probably wait for the jello.
Kat, I haven't tried the flaxseed, I will get my book out and read up on it.
    Thanks and goodnight,
Yes, Linda (the font lady) has some great recipes and even puts pictures with them. If you search her site, she also has her weight-loss story. I saved a "shortcut" on my desktop so I can access this site anytime. I also printed out some recipes to try or that I have tried and put them in a cute, little binder in my kitchen (it is pink with flowers). That way it feels special.

Hum...Jello has aspartame in it and I think we are supposed to watch that to begin with because your body reacts to it like sugar. (I'm not sure, but it is probably in the book.) So, it is good that you avoided it for now. Yeah! I have also heard that we should watch trying to make low-carb desserts because having a sweet snack is one of the reasons we got in the shape we are in so if we learn to do without them, then the better it is for us and we'll end up being more successful. However, last night it kept crossing my mind. I kept thinking it is Friday night and what's something fun I can eat for the weekend. My mind kept going to the heavy cream and cocoa with Splenda, but I resisted. (shocker) My husband did make us a cup of decaf coffee that was delicious so that satisfied that little urge. We call it our "dessert coffee" and use it for our dessert (he did Induction last time with me and that is how it got its name).

We made the little flaxseed crackers and had them with breakfast before and I've also made country fried steak and coated them (lightly) with it and it turned out pretty good. It goes good with the mock potatoes and another veggie.

Well, I hope you had a nice evening and I'm going to get another message from Day Five.

    Be back...

      Hey Chrisie!

I'm with you on this. I've been on this board off and on for a good while, but each time I'm more and more convinced that this is the way to go. That is why I'm here too. I want this to become my life; ingrained in me that I don't have to think about it any more.

One thing I'd like to try is the Ongoing Weight Loss phase (OWL). I've always just stuck to Induction -- two months being the long stint. I'd like to learn how to start adding back in other foods and to continue to lose.

BTW, how old and tall are you? There are several of us here so you have a few buddies to share your two weeks of Induction with.

In case you're wondering, here's the link to the site with some Induction recipes on it: http://users3.ev1.net/~fontlady/induction_menus/induction_menus.html These might help if you get in a pinch.

      Best wishes on your journey!!

Chrisie, I found your post and put it here so our other Induction Buddies could read a little about you and your journey.

I have lost a total of four pouds so far, which to some might not seem like a big whoop tee doo but to me is wonderful . I am very excited. I am not going to sit here and tell you it hasn't been hard because it has been very hard at times. But to be honest, this time it isn't a killer. I have my goals in my head constantly instead of food. And these four pounds are wonderful. I used to think four pounds that is it. But now, I think four pounds that is a pound a day. WOW! I mean after all I put it on a few pounds at a time right. So, tonight I am going to bed a winner. I might not reach my goal weight in the next few months which is 125 I am now at 230.8, but I plan on doing it within a year. I know I can do it. I haven't started excercising yet, but come monday morning that is my new goal. One step at a time. Even if I can only start out doing 10 minutes I feel like that is better than nothing and I feel like atleast I will be developing the habit which is most important. And, then I can add the time and endurance and all that stuff. WEll, I know I can do it this time. I am going to get to my goal weight. I hope to do it before the year is out, but I am giving myself a year. You guys are going to be hearing a lot out of me. So wish me luck. And good luck to all of you. I hope all of you are going to bed a winner tonight too. Chrisie

I was wondering what happened to you when your day 5 kept growing and growing but noi day 5 appeared. I'd suggest y'all skep day 7 checking shrinking on the sclaes cause we vets l know the second week slows a lot but some folk freak out seeing that slowing and think they are doing something wrong and then mess themselves up.
Happy enducting can't eait to see all the day 15 yipeeee I lost posts.

I am 23 (will be 24 in april, starting to dread these birthdays....lol) and I am bearly 5'3" I am a shortie. And, I plan on staying on induction for longer than 2 weeks this time. I am pushing to lose weight and in Dr. Atkins book it said that you can safely stay on induction for longer than two weeks so I am going to try it...I stayed on it my first time for almost two months and lost nearly 50 pounds....I am looking forward to trying to different phases this time too though. Just at a different time in my journey. Thank y'all for taking an interest in me and my weight loss. -

Thanks for the words of wisdom!! I've been pondering it and I think that is what I'm going to do. Just weigh in (measure inches) AFTER the two weeks and post my results then.

Hum...how can we tell that you love posts -- the posting Queen!!

                  Hey Chrisie,

We're glad you're here...we've all been through it at one time or another so you are in good company.

It is good that you are taking control of it so young because some of us (like me) wishes I would have done this a long time ago and I wouldn't have to worry about it now. Like that little quote in my siggie -- "A year from now you'll wish you had started today"... Take care of it now so you will enjoy your life better with one less thing to worry about. It is good to get in healthy habits now that will take you through life.

                  Best wishes!!

thank you for the encouragement. Lord knows I wish I would have never had let myself get this far in the first place, 3 kids later whattaya know. Oh well, nothing to do now but to move on from it which is what I plan to do. You are a really good role model for all of us "weight losers". I know you are doing the same yourself but you sure put out a lot of good vibes and words to "lose on"...lol...looking forward to getting to know you better.

Re: Induction -- Day SIX!!! Surviving!

Back from soccer, so I have a few free minutes to post.
Hubby fixed some great scrambled eggs with ham and cheese this morning, plus two pieces of bacon. I was thrilled, becuase I am usually the one who doesn't have time to eat, because I am too busy getting me and kids ready to go. Then I end up ravished by the time we get home.
I made BLT Boats for lunch. What is a BLT boat you ask? When you get to the smaller leaves in the inner part of the romaine lettuce head, the leaves look like little canoes, especially after the bacon and tomatoes are in them.

I am going to measure myself today, so I will have another form of motivation when the stalls come.
I secretly hope, that by not weighing myself until induction is over, I will not even have to see the 230's on the scale, just jump right to the 220's.
                        Let's hope it works.
Kat, you're probably enjoying your brother's company right now. ENJOY!!!
I'm going to do my crunches, before it get's too late and I forget.
                        Check you gals later,
                        Erin

hi guys well as of today I have lost 8 pounds I know I said I would stay off the scales for a few days, but what can I say I am addicted already. I am sure as the weight comes off more slowly I will stop stepping on the scales a little less. But for now I am really excited. I know most of it is water weight, but it is still weight and that is all I care. Hope all of you are doing as well!
