Re: Are my goals reality?
Seems pretty reachable. Just keep putting in the effort, drinking your water and exercising and you'll get there. Just keep this in mind if you fall a couple pounds short. As long as you know in your heart that you gave everything you had to give that's all that really matters. In the long run it is just a number.

Re: Are my goals reality?
I'd look at 168 for end of March
Then 152 for 4/30
then 138 by 5/31
That's a loss of 10% of each months weight.
I find if I set a goal that is hard to achieve, I will say it's not working and quit or give up. But that's just me.
AND...Your weight loss may vary.

Re: Are my goals reality?
Keep in mind, the closer you get to goal, the slower your weight loss becomes because you're practically maintaining at that point.
Plus, when you're 5-10 lbs. away from goal, you'll be on pre-maintenance, which means you'll be eating more carbs, and monitoring your results closely.
Also, how tall are you? Is 120 a realistic, healthy weight? Many of us end up revising our goal weight up, when we realize that the "magic number" was something practically unattainable. I really wanted to be 130 for a long long time, but even 135 was a very difficult weight for me to maintain -- I had to be exercising constantly and counting every morsel I consumed -- NOT how I wanted to spend the rest of my life!
I can maintain 137-139 pretty easily, without feeling deprived or needing to kill myself at the gym, but it took me years to accept those numbers as "final" and good enough.
Just my two cents. YMMV. I wish you great success!!!*Re-started Induction 1 March 06
*Commencing OWL 15 March 06
*Doing it for my health, not so much the scale!

Re: Are my goals reality?
I think that is a personal choice and although many people have super GREAT advice...this truly is something that you have to figure out if it is worth fight for. I mean if we were talking about losing a 100 pounds in a month than that would be one thing, but were not! I believe you can do this if you believe you can do this! Don't listen to negatism or what other people call reality. Dreams become reality if we make them that way!

Re: Are my goals reality?
True, our dreams CAN become a reality if we work towards them and work hard, but some of us just don't lose as fast as others.Originally posted by chrisie_20I think that is a personal choice and although many people have super GREAT advice...this truly is something that you have to figure out if it is worth fight for. I don't think that your goal weights are bad (so long as you are not 5'7). I am not sure that Atkinswife was trying to be 'negative'. I think she was just saying that based on experience, your goal weight maybe higher than what you intended.
I thought this thread was about those goals being reached by a certain date. Leah, I just don't want you to not make these goals and be disappointed, that's all. That's why I asked your start date and how much you lost during your first two weeks. Knowing these things could help you to understand what your average weight loss is each month, and what works for you.
For example, if you started say 2 months ago, you have lost 20 pounds, so average roughly 10 pounds a month, so a goal of 5 pounds in 1/2 month would be obtainable, IMO.
Once you post your start date and how much you lost on induction, I'll check. I just don't want to say yea you can lose 5 pounds in 15 days if you only lose 5 a month. See what I'm trying to say??
I hope this post finds everyone in good spirits. I think working hard to reach our goal is wonderful. But remember your goal too is to be happy and healthy, not just a particular number.
One last thing ( I know I talk a lot
), If I set a goal, like lose 9 pounds before Spring, I also set a measurement goal as well. That was if I hit a mini stall or something, and still lose those inches, I still have reached a great Goal and my spirit stays intact. Just an idea
Have a great Day Hun.
