  • Doctor visit

I've been having back pain for the past few weeks - it just kind of appeared one day and gradually got worse. Yesterday when I got home from work I sat at my computer and started trying to study for a test I've got coming up, but when I got up to get a drink, ouch. I could barely walk. I stumbled around for awhile, made my boyfriend go buy me some Ben Gay, and freaked out.

Today I took off work and went to both the doctor and a chiropractor. The doctor insisted on testing me for all kinds of stuff, including my urine, and to my surprise she mentioned that there were ketones in it. She seemed concerned that I wasn't eating or drinking enough (oh, but I am), but... I don't know, I never got ketosis strips or anything when I did Atkins the first time around; I just kind of went by instinct. Which I'm still doing, but apparently it's working. Yay.

Oh, and the chiropractor cracked me up. Literally. But in a good way. Hopefully I'll be feeling better by Wednesday, because I turn 21 and I am definitely going out (though I'll try to stick to low-cal liquor )

I hope you told your doc you were doing a low carb way of eating so they don't schedule you for any follow up testing of those ketones

I told her I had sworn off most sugar and white flour, but she didn't seem to care too much. This is probably because I went to the student health center on campus, and while it's a lot nicer here than at the school I used to go to, they are primarily concerned with getting people in and out. So I'm planning to look for a good clinic in town, and I also went to a chiropractor who gave me way more practical advice for my back than taking Tylenol 3.
