  • Hi back for a 2nd time around need all the help i can get.

I did atkins back in '04 started July 15th & lasted until thanksgiving and went from 345-272 then after that day of thanksgiving gave away to a day of leftovers and the another then that gave away to starting back after christmas. you get the idea. Ok i'm back for a way of life this time not a diet. I just got divorced so it's probally for spite to lol.

So now im raising my (2) year old boy & my (5) month old boy by myself, I want to be able to run and play ball with them not be the old fat dad. So I know I will be looking for advice and strength here from all of you so I want to thank you in advance. I'm going to start thursday I picked that day not to power eat until then, but Because I will go grocery shopping wednesday.

Just to ramble on I think one thing that hurt me last time was all the compliments, tons of people were tell me how much better i looked, I let it go to me head.

Last time I was able to go to the track and walk 2-3 miles a day, i won't have time to go to the track this time, not with work and the boys are another fulltime job and squeezing in her visitation time. I will have to find something I can do at home. Treadmill is an option but it will be a while before i can get one. I will figure out something though. Saturday and Sunday I will be able to go to the track but ill need something for during the week.

I will weigh in and post a starting weight by thursday and i'm hiding the scales after, there not even going to be in the house, i'm not going to be weighing in everyday, I know my weight is higher than it was last time. But not for long

Any one else starting back around the same time wants to be diet buddies let me know.

thanks for all the help in advance

Welcome back Danny! You definitely have a lot on your plate! My advice to you is to plan ahead and cook ahead when you can. Life has a way of sneeking up on busy people!
You are going to get there this time!!!

Re: Hi back for a 2nd time around need all the help i can get.

      Hey, Danny!

Congrats on your committment to do this again! The most important thing is to not beat yourself up. This is something I also have to work on. Sorry to hear about the divorce, but hopefully this is for the best for you and your boys. I also have 2 boys....almost 5 and 2 1/2. They are the joy of my life!

I started 9/11/04 and had lost a total of 92 lbs. The last 6 months have been really rough diet-wise..no particular reason. While I never considered myself to have completely fallen off the wagon, I was certainly dragging a leg or two. Paying the price for it now as I've FOUND about 25 of that 92 I had lost. I should be close to or at goal by now, but instead I've still got about 65 or so to lose. Got to get it off...summer is going to be here soon. Also going on a cruise in September. Want to be at goal so that I can really enjoy the trip!! Not sure if this is still realistic or not. At least need to get as close to goal as possible before the cruise.

It kills me that I've lost control like this again. I completely got off on the acknowlegdement from others on my weight loss. Now I'm embarrassed that I've gained. Fortunately I'm tall so I can hide it a little more easily. Still, I'm committing to doing this again before I gain any more. I know that if I don't get control of this now, I'll gain back all 92 and probably more.

I do know that a big part of my problem is that I basically did extended induction for a year +. Never read past the induction part of the book, so I think I just got tired of eating the same stuff all the time. This is my own fault....I've only read at least 10,000 times on this board that you HAVE TO READ THE BOOK! Intending to read it this time and actually follow the stages and rungs, but for now concentrating on going thru induction again. Planning to start tomorrow.

It would be great to have someone to help keep me motivated. If you are still looking for someone, respond or send me a PM.

      Best of luck to you!

Welcome back! I'm a second time arounder too! I'll give you two pieces of advice that have helped me this time around:
          1) I made sure that I cook top notch meals. I don't eat the same thing over and over again. There are great recipes on this forum and I also use Linda's Low Carb site: http://users3.ev1.net/~fontlady/ There is no reason to get stagnant in your eating on Atkins. Look for posts made by Heidi...she's fabulous, because cooking is a passion for her.
          2) I didn't stay on induction very long. I moved up through the phases. I eat all kinds of variety--vegetables, dairy, nuts, berries. I have actually lost more pounds on OWL in any given week than I did on induction. Plus, it helps keep me happy with the foods I can eat...and I'm losing more!!!

QUIT SMOKING JULY 23, 2006 while on Atkins

Just when you think you've eaten enough vegetables...EAT SOME MORE!

            Hi Danny

congrats on gettting back, I'm on day 17 myself.

I have an idea for workout equipment. there's a site caled freecyle.org. it's organized by city and region, and people offer things for free, or ask for things for free. no fees, nothing. and it's not quite an exchange, cause you dont have to give something back.
I know that in san diego, a looooot of people post their workout equipment, cause it's the kind of thing that people buy and then dont use. I hope it helps, you can probably get t treadmill sooner than you thought!

oh, and I just found a recipe site that's really got me inspired, http://www.carb-lite.au.com

            good luck, and welcome back!

really that freecycle.org looks like nothing but a paid ad site, I don't see any people by region giving away their treadmills lol

Re: Hi back for a 2nd time around need all the help i can get.

                oh, Sorry!

you have to look for your city first, then make a free account, and then you can look through what people are offering-or asking for.

I use it alllll the time in san diego, since I'm a starving student I got most of my furniture that way, BBQ, dishes, etc. I guess it depends on your region, but I keep seeing people offer their stationary bikes, tradmills, weights, etc.

make sure you're looking at your region, and then at your city.
                good luck!
