Welcome to STAC and be sure to check out all the stickeys at the top of the forum. They can be very helpful to those of us whom have begun again for whatever time it is.

How is the starting over day going so far? Good for you! We have all been there and some of us (cough) have been here longer than we should have been. But now that I have my cravings under control, its full steam ahead, PM us if you need any words of motivation or even just a swift kick in the rear, haha we are here for you in your journey. And have alot of months (years) of wisdom to share. Good Luck!

          Re: Starting Over

First day went well. There was a little stress and cheesecake left over in the fridge from my fiance’s birthday (that was tough) but I persevered. Thanks for asking. I find this board to be very supportive and encouraging.

wow very cool that you gave a frown to that nasty carbage cheesecake, good for you, you will find it gets easier as you go, and for those times that the sugar cravings kick in, run down to your health food store and pick up some L-Glutamine, this stuff is a miracle, it got me back to where I should be (not cheating every stinkin month during PMS and cycle) You just GO girl!

Yeah for starting over and refocusing on what you want to achieve. I love your goals, all you have to do is make it through today. You are building momentum, and soon that big wheel of effort will be moving and the momentum will have shifted!!!
I woke up at midnight wanting my midnight ceral snack, it was a very difficult moment, and then I just climbed back in bed, it probably felt similar to seeing that cheesecake.
But, you are past that moment now!!!! I am on day 4. Soon we will be all detoxed out and flowing in a new better place!!!

                            Re: Starting Over

I try to ask myself WHY do i have a craving for this or that. Boredom? Habit? Stuffing down feelings??? I try to switch thinking - reading, TV, phone, computer, water, exercise. It usually passes. NOt always. Sometimes I find myself argueing with myself eat it? NO. nibble it? NO. Find an alternative. Changing that way of thinking about food seems to come in time with most people who stick with Atkins. They focus on other things. Switch gears. Learn new ways to cope. It's a day to day struggle sometimes. I told my husband today I wanted to shove that entire piece of bread in my mouth. When he asked why.. I had no answer. It won't taste good. It will give me a headache. It will make me feel like a failure. All those negs. What could the positive be that would make we want to do that????

Old habits. Stuffing down feelings. Not FEELING things. It's security for me to eat carbs.. they make me feel good for.. oh.. while I"m eating them? Then they make me feel horrible. I won the bread arguement for today. I know we will go to war again in the future.. but each day i get stronger

                            You will too!
