Re: Welcome to the Second Time Around Club

Hi If I Ever. I've been on this site, but no one writes back. Don't give up. I'm still trying to lose even a pound, but with taking medicines for H.B.P and having knee surgery, I just can't seem to drop any weight. It gets discouraging, but tell yourself that at least you are aware of what you are eating, or shouldn't be eating. That's step one for me. I'm in the middle of moving back to California, and just found only my only and dearest friend here is diagnosed with bowel cancer. I want to cry for her, but grab food instead. BUT, again, I put it down, being aware! I'm now believing in the thinking that says to eat only the calories needed for the time to the next meal. I used to be a counselor for a diet program and know what to do...just as you with being a nurse. Do keep up your decision to lose the weight, and I won't guarantee writing all of the time...I truly don't remember to come back to the thread in all that I'm doing to move in June. Write me when you want...and my email is b.a.girga@zonnet.nl if you want a personal hug. Success.... Barbara

Hello there If I Ever! I don't mind helping you out...Someone did the same for me long ago and I would have stuck it out but for that act of kindness! I also find that helping others really helps me work my own kinks out (and I have had a few of those lately )!

First off, have you started a journal in the chats section? That is a great place for us to have a running dialogue that won't get lost in the threads! This is the link - I think:

Here is a link to my journal. Post there when you get yours up and running and I will pop over and we'll chat about what you need!

Re: New to the Second Time Around Club

Thank you so much for responding. The first time on Atkins I stayed on the sidelines, I never got inot the game-I would not post, I read, enjoyed what I was reading but owuld not take the risk by getting in there with everyone else! This time I am going to do things differently, I see how it works for others that take the risk and share and they lose the weight, their eating does not go wacky.......I want what they have and I am willing and ready to do whatever it takes to get what they have. I am going to learn how to navigate this wonderful tool.......the bulletin board. I want to make a profile of myself. I am going to journal my weight loss....and actually take photos of myself!!!!! I am going to to one thing at a time.........but I will get my rather large butt off the bench and get into the game!!!! Thank you all for responding. Take care and stay safe.

Re: New to the Second Time Around Club

Hello If ever, I sent you a PM. I am also a nurse I work in Cardiac recovery. I was very sucessful doing Atkins while working nights, in fact for me it was easier than days. I would love to add and help you would need and help be supportive. you could send me a Private Message by clicking my name in the upper left hand of this post and chosing send a message. I know as a nurse sometimes co-workers are actively against Atkins or at least not very supportive and that can be especially hard...but when you start losing they will see that you are healthy and getting fit.

Re: New to the Second Time Around Club

I am happy to say that I rec'd replies to my post and today being Wednesday it is now day three of induction and life is still good. I need to be more consistent with my water drinking. Planning th food has not been too much of a challenge and I have not had a serious craving for sweets either. But the hardest thing to deal with is the issue of coffee. I need it for work........sounds like an addict, huh? Hope allis well and wonderful with everyone..take care and stay safe.

Good job on getting started the water drinking is a habit that comes more with time. The coffee is something I have not been able to eliminate either but I did quit the diet MT Dew...thats good right
