  • why is this so hard the 2nd time?

I'm getting very discouraged. I can't seem to make it past the 3-4 day craving stage. For some reason, it seemed easier to get on and stay on the first time. I was so happy for the 2 years that I stayed on, but got lazy and stopped cooking for myself and just started eating whatever I cooked for everyone else. I have two 16 year old boys and a 21 year old stepdaughter that could in no way follow this woe for any length of time. Oh, well, today is another day........DAY 1......I CAN DO THIS!!!!. thx

Yes, you CAN do this! I just know it!

Take it one day at a time. If there's something you want to eat that is not good for you, tell yourself that you can have it tomorrow if you still want it. Then when tomorrow comes, if you still want it, tell yourself all over again.

It was easier for me the first time, too, and when I gave up and saw that I gained 30 pounds back, I was so disgusted with myself. We just have to keep it in our minds that this is what we want for ourselves. I still want chocolate cake, but I know if I have it, I am only hurting myself. If I won't let anyone else hurt me, how can I possibly hurt myself, you know?

I know it's hard sometimes, but try to be positive. Imagine yourself a month from now, or 6 months from now. See how the weight will be gone. You can do this!

Hang in there! You CAN do this. I feel your pain. I am on day 4 of my third go around with this woe. I'm coming back to atkins from weight watchers. The simple reason is: I remember how great I felt the first time. The first time around did seem so easy and I felt so healthy. My confidence was through the roof. I want to accomplish that again - and you can too!

It was so easy for me the first time. And it has been harder the past 2 times I have tried and I eventually gave up and just ate whatever luckily I didn't gain it all back I managed to keep 20 off. I know this is going to sound strange but I have had some health issues of late and had to have a ton of tests. Most of which I had to be fasting from 10 or midnight the night before. But there was one I had to fast all the day before having nothing but clear liquids. And afterwards I thought you know if I can do this I can stick to atkins. Should be a peice of cake. And when I think I'm hungry before it is time to eat I just remember that day of clear liquids and remember I CAN DO THIS i proved it that day. I CAN be hungry for another hour or two if I can go 24 hours with nothing to eat.

Re: why is this so hard the 2nd time?

Thank you for the words of encouragement. I made it past day 1, even with peanut butter cookies and chocolate eggs staring me in the face. I whipped up a batch of cream cheese, heavy cream and splenda and had 2 tablespoons of that to get through the cravings of the evening. I used to make "clouds" my first time around. Anybody remember those? I just didn't add the cocoa powder and put them in the freezer this time. DAY 2. I CAN DO THIS........Water intake between 96oz and 128oz. I drink from 32oz bottle all day long. thx again.......

Great job Karen! Looking forward to seeing your success post for making it through today as well I'm right there with you.

I remember seeing the "clouds" recipe before. I'm really looking for something sweet too. Would you mind sharing how you make them? And what you do to freeze them (what you put them in, etc)? Thanks!
