  • Restarting Atkins after 8 months

I stayed with the Atkins llifestyle after losing 100 lbs. to reach my goal of 210. I've had a hard time, and seriously fell off the wagon since last fall with stress at work, Hurricanes Katrina and Rita (all my family is in Louisiana), and conducting a long-distance serious relationship (my boyfriend moved because of an excellent career opportunity).
But - I'm making a new start! Restarting Atkins already makes me feel good about myself again (all that energy!), and I'm moving to be with my boyfriend this summer.
Looking forward to tracking my progress here amongst fellow Atkins lifestylers!

Sounds great Mookie! I too once was on Atkins and had a turn for the worst...some beyond my control. Anyway I have strapped on the Atkins saddle today and this is my first day of Induction.

      Good Luck on your journey!

Re: Restarting Atkins after 8 months

If I work 12 - 15 hr. days, six days a week, with only one day off (during which I'm exhausted, and have to catch up with laundry, grocery shopping, errands, etc.), how do I find time to work out? I have a membership at Bally's which goes unused simply because I can't find the time to go. Will not exercising screw up my best chances to lose weight?

Re: Restarting Atkins after 8 months

I've been doing better Second Time Around (actually won't say WHAT number time around it is!) with doing just 10 minutes on the Gazelle. It's in my living room, although it needs to be moved, and I have to walk by it so I get on for 5 to 10 minutes at a time. I'm sort of handicapped so exercise is hard for me, but since I fell off the wagon, the pounds won't come off without it.

Good for you to get back on plan, hope your life gets back on track in all the ways that it needs to. Low-carbing will help!! It will give you the extra energy for all that WORK!!! Good luck and keep posting.

Thanks for the suggestion! I'd never thought of buying home exercise equipment before because I always thought I'd do better going to a gym - oh well! I'm gonna do some research now....

Thanks so much for the words of support! Good luck and good health to you as well!

                hey mookie

I'm a starving student, so i couldnt really affor to buy excercise equipment. I found a group that gives away things for free. it's www.freecycle.org, I live in San diego, and people offer excercise equipment all the time.
the site is organized by area, so maybe if you live in a small town there might not be that many offers, but i think it's worth a look.

i hope it helps, let me know if you have any questions...

Re: Restarting Atkins after 8 months

What a great idea! I've been trying for a couple years to find one of these used, so I finally saved my pennies and bought it --- just before I was laid off.

Still not sorry, it's great not having to drive 30 minutes to the gym! Academy Sports and Outdoors has them for about $90, much cheaper than the guy on TV
