  • A lurker comes foward!

Hello everyone! I have been lurking here for a long time. My story:

Three years ago I lost about 45 lbs! I went from 185 to 140, and maintained that weight for a year and a half. Then I got married and stopped eating right. I also left my job where I stood and lifted things all day, to go to school, where I sat all day. That brings me to today: I slowly gained 20lbs in the last year and a half. I had to go summer clothes shopping a few days ago (it's SO hot here in Portland!) and was completly devastated! So, today is my day one of induction and a better, more healthy life!

If anyone here has any advice, I would love to hear it!

Welcome to the board. You'll like it here. I've found these folks to be very helpful. Before long, you'll be back on track!
    June Goals
    1. Continue with water
    2. Use bike more (3x per week would be nice).
    3. Continue with videos.
    4. Go to the YMCA for water classes.
    5. Build stamina for more walking.

    Goals for May:
    1. Water every day - at least 100 oz.
    2. Walk through Wal Mart instead of ride.
    3. Post every day.
    4. Get the exercise bike out of basement and use it!
    5. Re-read DANDR! It's been too long.

Welcome back! Advice? Keep posting. I'm a STAC member and I lose better when I'm posting, not lurking.

Secondly, don't be surprised if it doesn't come off as easily this time. It took me several false starts until I figured this out, and at least I'm NOT gaining any more. As you know, this is a much healthier lifestyle, and you know what the alternative is if you are off the plan. I had to ask myself, "How much am I willing to baloon up to just to avoid the hard work of doing low-carb?" 200? I had been too close to that for comfort (literally). 300? It WOULD happen eventually, others have been there and that's where I was headed.

There are a lot of ideas here about cooking for a "mixed" family, if your DH is not okay with doing low-carb. (I add homemade whole wheat bread to meals.) Others cook low-carb for the entire family. Your new hubby will appreciate a slimmer you, and he will learn to keep the carbalicious stuff away from you and be supportive. Or we'll come and break his knees.
