  • Induction or OWL for 2nd+ Time Around

I am finishing up my two week induction and as of today I have lost 8.5 lbs. I was wondering if the second (or more) time around if most of you found it beneficial to stay on induction a little longer or did you just move on in to OWL. If I stay on Induction will it give my metabolism a boost?

Re: Induction or OWL for 2nd+ Time Around

Deb, this is my second go-around with Atkins too. The first time I tried to stay on induction the whole time and, frankly, I got bored and went off plan for over 2 years. I gained it all back plus some because I went hog wild...literally ate like a piggie for 2 years.

This time around I did induction for 4 weeks. The first two, I had some slip ups, the second two I did it right but didn't lose anything. So, I moved into OWL and I've been steadily losing ever since!! I even lost 5 lbs one week.

What I like about it is the variety of foods. Being able to have different things like more veggies, berries, nuts, yogurt, ricotta/cottage cheese, beans in my salad/soup, low carb tortillas, etc. I actively seek out great recipes to try...and my commitment is strong as ever. This morning I am 4 lbs lighter than I've ever been in 15 years and it feels great!

So, my advice to you, or anyone, is to go onto OWL. It's called ON GOING weightloss for a reason...you continue to lose but add foods back into your diet. You go through the phases so that you will be able to see what foods your body can tolerate and still lose weight. You'll be seeing how much food you can eat and still lose weight. This is what is going to prepare us for maintaining our weight for the rest of our lives.

Another thing to think about is that you can move into OWL and if you have problems, you can always return to induction, but I think you'll find that you will be happier with your food choices.

you just lost according to your siggy 17% of the weight you need to lose. How much more boost do you feel your metabolism needs?

Move to OWL enjoy the extra veggies and slowly climb the ladder identifying all foods that trigger you or stop you so you will have a solid house of Atkins WOE when you arrrive at goal and move in.
