    Re: Wow.broccoli!!!!!

If it was one cup of raw broccoli chopped then the total carb count is 6g, with 2g fiber, net 4 grams. http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcom...st_nut_edit.pl

        Re: Wow.broccoli!!!!!

When you look at the the pie chart at the top you'll see total carbs and fiber. Subtract the fiber from the total, that's your net. What measurement are you using for the broccoli? i.e. raw, frozen, flowerets, etc.

bigjay... dont make the mistake of getting too afraid of carbs.. at least, the good ones. Broccoli is a super duper nutrient dense food & 8 grams of HEALTHY carbs is not something you should worry about, so long as you stay under your 20 gram limit during induction

            Re: Wow.broccoli!!!!!

A cup of cooked broccoli contains more than a cup of raw broccoli as it shrinks down once it is cooked, so will have more carbs.
My fitdayPC has cooked broccoli as having 9 carbs less 5 carbs of fibre - making a net count of 4.
To get fitday.com to show fibre carbs so you can deduct them you need to enter a number in your 'fiber goal' section. It doesnt matter what number you put there as long as you enter something, as we are not aiming for the 'standard' RDA number of carbs recommended in the so-called 'normal' food pyramid.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
