Ok...I've really really been struggling. I did really good 2 years ago, and lost alot of weight. I've put half of it back on starting and stopping for the last 2 years now...and I mean some days starting in the morning, and quitting by the middle of the afternoon. Other times making it two weeks only to fall on my face with one person bringing a dessert to a party. I HAVE NO WILL POWER, but once again I'm trying, and hoping to do better. If ever there was a way to learn humility, its this diet! So...hope you'll let me join your club, despite being a proven "loser". Thanks!

Re: Thousandth Time Around Club??
Try positive affirmations too. Don't say things to yourself like "I have no willpower". Say things to yourself every morning like "I have all the willpower I need to get through the day". I just went to a conference and the woman asked us all to pick three affirmations to say to ourselves daily. She said if you do it long enough it will change your life. Don't just picture yourself "trying" picture yourself succeeding and being the picture of health, shopping for cute clothes, taking that vacation you want. I know it sounds cheesy but I'm trying it.
Also, pleeassseee don't call yourself a "loser", you are a winner, you just haven't crossed the finish line yet. I'm in your boat I've restarted more times than I can remember. I just keep getting back on that horse and so should you. You are a valuable person and deserve respect, especially from yourself.

Re: Thousandth Time Around Club??
I absolutely agree with Bilowi on the positive affirmations. Whether you believe you can, or you believe you can't, you're right. Everything you put into your brain will affect your success so try hard not to defeat your efforts by putting yourself down. Tell yourself I CAN do this. I WILL do this. I am stronger than that piece of _____ so and so brought over.Female

Re: Thousandth Time Around Club??
Thank you everyone, for your replies. I guess it was kinda harsh on myself...but then, I feel like I need to "whip" myself into shape. I did great yesterday until my husband felt we had to go to an Italian restaurant last night. I had a ribeye, and their Italian veggie mix, plus a Ceasar with the croutons given to my son. BUt they put this hot fresh french bread on the table with olive oil over roasted garlic, and basalmic vinegar!
So instead of a 20 carb count...I ended up with almost 40. Better today! I promise!

Re: Thousandth Time Around Club??
Ditto what everyone said. And I definitely feel you. I've been through it also. I think many of us here have, so if you ever feel like you can't get through a week, a day, an hour, just come here and chat with us. I've found the encouragement and support of the people here to be ESSENTIAL to my success. There are many days when I know I couldn't have made it through a day without reading the posts here, getting some support, or just reading the stickies.
Don't worry, you'll get right back on it, and STAY on it. We'll do it with you! =)
EDIT: I just re-read your signature. WOW! You've accomplished so much already! Take stock of what you've done so far, and just keep moving forward!

Re: Thousandth Time Around Club??
Welcome back!
I have been struggling with the same problem. At some point we have to make a definite choice that will "stick." I hope and really think I have gotten to that point. Aside from a planned birthday cheat ( which I don't recommend) I have been "clean" since early April. That's kind of a record for me lately, and now I'm losing again instead of gaining. It has been AWFUL having to turn down food I know I love, but I do it instead of turning down the figure and health I know I love!!!
It sounds simplistic, I know, to say "you gotta WANT it." But it's working for me. And when I'm thinking of falling off the wagon, I figure I can always do that tomorrow. Procrastination is a GREAT tool for me, and it worked the first time around. If you are not to the point where you can say goodbye forever to all your good "friends" in the carbalicious realm (even though they are killing you), then just do it for today. Then tomorrow do the same thing, etc, etc, etc.
For me, I think I have turned the corner and said goodby to the garbage that was poisoning me, and thinking seriously about collecting some "holiday" recipes to get me thru Christmas (for a change.) This junk is NOT worth what it does to us, emotionally or physically. You are worth more than that, to be a slave to carbs.
From one addict to another, you have done great, you just need to up the ante. We're here to help!!!

Re: Thousandth Time Around Club??
Thanks, Atkins Again and Christine...I'm so grateful for the kind words and the advice. I'm doing better now, yesterday was fantastic, and three water pounds have dropped. Thats the greatest motivation. It seems it just takes getting through the first few days, and then its better. Planning holiday recipies is a great idea, as thats always when I fall off the wagon too. Its amazing how fast one can back track when going back to all those "goodies" or should I say "evilies"...
We can do this!!!
