  • Oh, evil potluck...

This is what happens when you work mainly with lovely older women who live to bake - seems like there's a potluck every week! And it's never LC friendly stuff, it's always cookies and brownies and pudding cakes and such. And of course they're having one on the day I'm re-starting Induction. Be strong... be strong...

    Oh!! Be strong!!
What are you going to take?
I have made a few different things for potluck family gatherings.
    -Faux-tato salad
    -Sugar Free cole slaw
-cauli-broc & cheese casserole (cauliflower, broccoli, cream cheese, cheddar, bacon crumbles, spring onion)
Next one I am making creamed spinach.
    Good luck and be strong!!!

Make some meat/cheese/spinach rollups and slice and arrange them in a pretty pattern on a plate to take in yourself.
Or treat yourself to some smoked salmon slices to make salmon/cream cheese rollups.
I always find my 'potluck' plates are among the first emptied by everyone else so I prepare a small container with a stash for me in case they all get gobbled up by others!

And maybe make sure you eat something beforehand so you are not hungry when all the food comes out!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

All great ideas I would also eat before you go so you are not so hungry you lose your will power.

You can do it! You want the benefits of low-carbing more than you want cake!

Good idea on taking a little container for yourself. Our church does a potluck every Sunday evening, and my deep dish pizza was almost gone when DH grabbed the last slice for me!!

Ditto on eating beforehand. I hope your co-workers will soon get the idea that you can't eat their goodies and will try to bring veggies and cheeses etc. eventually. They may just ENJOY the challenge! Especially as you start losing they may want to try.

I usually bring my lunch every day and just let them have their little feast. I am always "missing out" on the various company supplied lunches and things because they either have Mexican, BBQ or Spaghetti or something that is just not allowable for me. I just stay in the groove and eat my lunch and go on with it. On these nights I usually will make up something like a nice large steak with mushrooms. I'm not suffering eating an nice steak while they have tacos. I do still have my wife bake various goodies to bring to the office, but I don't eat any of it. My wife baked some english toffee bars the other night and it looked like a pack of locusts decended on the pan!
