I am working so hard. Started induction June 1, eating only legal foods, exercising plenty, lots of water, lots of rest, working hard, and havent lost a pound or inch. I am trying to stick with it because I believe that if I keep going, my body will catch up -- however -- today is tough. I have some no-sugar-added ice cream in the freezer, that I KNOW I shouldn't eat, but I want it! Please say something to encourage me! I am in a slump

Re: Soo discouraged!
I've tried the fat fast in the past... lost a few pounds and then it came right back on when I went to induction. Thing is, I lost a lot of weight successfully with atkins in the past... kept it off... but have been STUCK... cant seem to get anymore off and still have at least 35lbs to go

Re: Soo discouraged!
put the ice cream in the sink... open it... turn on the HOT water and melt it. do it. you don't want to eat that garbage.
remember, even if you haven't lost any weight or inches... you're healthier for you're doing. you've been doing your body good and beleive it or not, it will catch up with you! hang in there and hurry up and eat something high in fat to bust your craving!

Re: Soo discouraged!
POst a menu. Lots of people here can offer you excellent advice but they need to know what you are doing to make it meaningful. And what height/weight are you, and how much do you want ot lose? What are you having, and how are your ratios of fat/protein/carbs? Remember to eat lots of vegetables for fibre and drink as much ater as you can stuff down.Odille

Re: Soo discouraged!
Also, have you tried the supplements mentioned in DADR ....L-Carnitine (spelling???) CQ10, chromium, and threre were some others. I can't remember the chapter, but try this, it might help with the sluggish metabolism.192/168/135

Re: Soo discouraged!
I will repeat what someone else said.....
.put the ice cream in the sink... open it... turn on the HOT water and melt it. do it. you don't want to eat that garbage
I know how discouraging it is to not lose! I myself am not losing! And I am just beginning again with this diet... very frustrating! BUT dont eat the ice cream! While you may be able to "get away with it", where will it take you? Its not the treat itself that will hurt you, but the new mind frame that puts you in!
My big thing is stay away from sweet things... even if they are like the atkins bars or whatever... because I am a sugar junkie, and what will that do to my mind? I am an addict of anything that will make me feel good!
I am a recovering alcoholic/addict, an ex smoker, sugar free and slowly becoming decaffinated! LOL! I love whatever my brain finds altering! So I understand the wanting it, and the justifying it... but DONT DO IT! It will take your mind places you dont want to go, and keep you there longer than you ever had any intention of staying!
You can do this!!!! Feel free to send me a private message if you ever need to! I will be here for you!

Re: Soo discouraged!
All my support to you! You do need to stay away from that sf ice cream and in general from most sweet stuff (even if it is legal) in induction. Please! Do not weight yourself very often. Keep doing your exercises and keep up with the induction and it eventually happen. You have to be patient! And keep coming here for support
Many Hugz!

Re: Soo discouraged!
I take chromium and CoQ10... L-Carnitine unfortunately cannot be bought or sold in Canada (it cannot be shipped into Canada either if purchased online. i tried)
Which is too bad, I have heard good results on it
A typical menu:
Breakfast, 2 eggs w mayo, 0.2 cup shredded mozza cheese, 1 tbls mayo, 1 tbls flax meal, 1 cup celery
Lunch: 1 cup roast beef w mayo, 1 cup cucumber
Dinner: chicken wings with butter & pepper sauce (no carb), 1 cup broccoli
usually my intake adds up to something like this:
1600ish cals
70ish% fats
3ish% carb
25-30% protein
I am 5'9" and I want to get 35 lbs offLast edited by cranberry; June 24, 2006, 09:53 AM.

Re: Soo discouraged!
Along with the cheese, the flax stands out to me as a staller. Plus, you seem to be lacking in the vegetable department. You've got to up those veggies. They're good for you!
PS - If you're doing the induction, I think your ratios are a little off. They should be 65/30/5/. If you haven't all ready, try logging your food into Fitday.com. I love it!Dawn

Re: Soo discouraged!
suggestion- shread your own cheese the put flour in shredded cheese to keep it from clumping and make sure that it is really 2 oz.
That menu looks great to me, maybe you could post a few different days cause it might be somthing you have not thought of.
Flax seed try just sprinkling a few seeds on your food cause a tbsp as 11 carbs.
The veggies are perfect for induction- water water and more water.
Also at your height and weight it will not come off as quickly on some one who is more over weight you should drink about 84oz water a day and more when you exercise.
Are you making your own butter sauce you should just because it says no carb , does not make that technically true just means it has less than 1 gram per serving but that can add up fast

Re: Soo discouraged!
I will cut out the cheese. I don't know that the flax meal would be a staller, but I will try cutting that out. There are only 4 grams of carbs and close to 4 is fibre... so really less than 1 net carb in that, but I will get rid of it to see if it makes a difference...
jerza- i am eating my 3 cups of veggies per day... i do use fitday, and I am pretty confident that my ratios are good. Initially I was eating 65/30/5 but have since tried to up my fat since I have read a lot of people tend to to lose a bit better that way
aust - i am drinking plenty off water... over 100 oz per day... usually around 120 or more.... I know the weight wont drop quickly, but my concern is that it is not coming off at all
2big - i am exercising 6Xweek cardio.. I am going to add 2X resistance starting next week.... when I add mayo it is by the table spoon... my fat percentage tends to be around 70%... I am unable to purchase any form of L-Carnitine in canada
Alright I am going to drop the cheese and add resistance training. If that doesnt make a difference, I will try to drop the flax meal... at only one tablespoon on some days, I am doubtful that is the culprit. And am a little hesitant to drop it because it is so fibre rich.... we'll see that happens here.
Oh, and I didnt eat the ice cream

Re: Soo discouraged!
kkep the flax unless you are allergic to it it might hold fluids as it passes through you but that isn't fat weigt. the nutritional benefets from the omega 3 fatty acides you get from it far out way the .78 carbs per 2T
Hide your scales as you will add some water weight when you begin any new to you exercise pogram. Do like the 6 week exercise challnge folk do and measure all over them in a month check those numbers and be jumping for joy cause you have shrunk!!!.by the book atkinseer
