  • Once again...

    Good afternoon,

I'd like to say Hi to everyone. It's been quite a long time since I've been on the board (lurking) and even longer since I've posted anything, probably about a year or so.

Anyway, when last I was here I weighed about 200 lbs and had been there for a while, if I remember correctly. I was having a really hard time geting under 200 and don't think I ever did. Anyway, I slipped off of Atkins after losing 45 lbs and have gained back aboout 25.

A month ago I had an official weigh in and physical readiness test (PRT) fort he Navy, where I ended up weighing in at 220 lbs and 25% bodyfat (max is 22%) but with an overall Excellent in the PRT portion. The excellent allows for my bodyfat max to be increased to 26% max, which is what happened for this cycle.

I've been working out at least 3 to 4 days a week and probably need to increase it to 5 or 6. I've been watching the amount I eat, but not particularly what I eat. I know, idiotic on my part. I saw a couple physical trainers and was recommended that that's how I proceed for weight loss.

I should have known better. I lost 55 lbs on Atkins in '98, I lost 45 in '04-'05, each time gaining most if not more back when I left the WOL. This is what I feel like right now -> It's funny I still remember the exact meal, location and company I was with when I went off Atkins the first time.

Well a few days ago I decided to start Atkins again and do my best to try to stay on it this time. Almost every time I've tried in the past I can't get past the 2 week induction. Well, I went though the kitchen this morning and made sure everything not on the Induction allowed food list are no longer there and went to the store after looking up some recipes and cross checking those with the allowed food list. I like to cook and live alone, so meals shouldn't be a problem and normally aren't. It's snacks that are the problem for me, oh yeah and Diet Pepsi. I drink it more than I drink water, which I know I shouldn't do, just something I need to make sure I work on. Which will be my personal goal for this first week, to drink at least 2.5 litres (about 85 ozs) of water a day. I chose litres since I have .5L bottles in my fridge right now. I also have quite a bit of Atkins friendly snacks to get me through.

I guess I should let you all go know. This has already become longer that I had anticipated. One of the things that really helped me out last time was this board. Once I stopped reading / posting, I slipped...badly. With the support of all of you and my dedication now, hopefully this will be the last time I start this WOE.

I hope you all have had a wonderful weekend. I'm sure I'll be seeing you around the board in teh future.

Welcome Brian...just remember Diet Pepsi can cause sugar cravings, and has caffine, which can also trigger blood sugar rises. But hey, if it works for you, the important thing is getting rid of the rest of the junk, which it sounds like you did. Good luck!
