I just posted in the "Welcome..." thread and Elizellen helped me understand the difference between a sticky thread and general posting (Thank you!). So, sorry for this cross post, but I want meet everyone. I have pasted my introduction below:
"I started Atkins in 2003 at 218. Lost down to 185 in 8 weeks, about 30 lbs. I didn't reach my goal weight of 140, but was enjoying what I had accomplished. Kept it off for 2 years. Then surgery, stress in my PhD program, and plain old temptation raised my weight to 235. I gained back everything and then some.
I tried returning to Atkins several times and failed to complete the induction. It simply wasn't fun. The person who wrote they couldn't stand the sight of another egg made me laugh. But this time, like so many of you, I have reached a point where my weight negatively affects everything I do. I am disgusted, ashamed, and tired of camouflaging (which doesn't fool anyone anyway).
The good news is that I've been back on induction 2 weeks and have gotten most of my cravings under control. And eggs don't bother as much . I have made it to 224 as of this morning. Not as dramatic as the first time, but 11 pounds is 11 pounds. My jeans fit better. Soon, I will be able to fit into more than one pair (I refused to buy more than one pair at my current size).
Hope that there is still someone out there. Your stories have been honest, and sometimes painful, but so very inspiring. Thanks."
