  • Starting clean again

I lost 40 pounds and have put about 25 back on. Although I've been following the basics of Atkins throughout, there's been definite carb creep; and although I've been entering my food into FitDay religiously, there may be a few things that just don't ever happen to be entered.

Any encouragement will help as I'm going to try to use this board for accountability again--you guys were so helpful the first time around!

      Re: Starting clean again

Fit day is harder for me than just writing in my journal stats every day. I do not enjoy using it and I agree that it is so much easier to not list something you should of. You have to stay accountable to yourself so why not just post your food in the journal stats if you don't do it already and see if that helps.
I will tell you what is working for me this time around is making my food choices for tomorrow, tonight. I go into each day knowing what I will eat at each meal, not winging it like I used to. I used to think, well, as long as I am eating a food I should, what does it matter if I plan it.
Well, it has made a huge differance. I do not have to think about food all day. I know what I am eating, and I just do it. Food has become much less important now and I am also keeping it very very simple. No trying to recreate low carb versions of my old diet, I eat bacon and eggs for breakfast and either chicken, fish , or turkey for lunch with a salad or steamed veggies and for dinner the same. I find I do not think about food, it is just not important to me and I just look at the clock and say, oh, its time to eat now and I eat. I do allow myself a small amount of cheddar for a snack, but have gotten to where I rarely even want that anymore.
One day at a time, and as a very excperienced and ten year successful low carber has taught me, lead with the diet and that way your diet will not lead you. I have never gotten better advice than that.

          Re: Starting clean again

I am flattered !!! I think we can inspire each other to make this our life time eating plan !!
I am just taking one day and one meal at a time and never give in to that voice that says, oh, I am only down x amount of pounds, it will take forever, because that voice is still there, but I tell myself that it took years to put it on, have a bit of patience getting it off again !!!
I know the next year is going to pass whether I am on my plan or not, why not be heathier and thinner rather than fatter and sicker, I am chosing the health.
I love that this board does not enable you but makes you stick to your higher standard and the rules of the plan, that is important. I have been on wonderful boards, but when someone would cheat, instead of asking, why did you do that, is that the best you could have done, dont' do that again, they say, oh, its okay, just start over. Well, that is fine unless that person is posting every other week they are starting over, and believe me, I have been that person in the past before I took this really seriously.
I want to lose this weight more than I want anything else right now. I want to get healthy and be able to be around a long time to enjoy life and all the wonderful things in it.
So, we have to agree to hold each other to that higher standard, and not let each other off the hook but call each other on it if we do something we should not have, and be willing to post that opps, when we make it, which, we are not goign to be doing anyway right !!!! ?
I am so happy to be here with so many awesome people!!!
