  • stupid question

    I know we are allowed to eat 20 carbs a day.. now the 2 cups salad and 1 cup broccoli count against those carbs?so if I want to have some pepperoni with jalapenos, I have to count off the jalapenos plus the salad I have to have?
    I always get confused with the veggies and allowances

    All the veggies you eat count toward your allowances. Check the list of veggies in the book... there are the "salad" veggies and a list of other veggies. If you don't eat more than two cups from the salad veggie list, you're allowed to have 1 cup from the other list. You need to limit to 3 cups a day total and the carbs are total carbs - fiber = net carbs. If you only had a couple jalapenos I don't think it's going to hurt you.

    Oh.. and you don't HAVE to have salad. You can eat 2 cups of anything from the "salad veggies" but don't worry about making salad. Mix it up and have a variety of them. It's a lot less likely that you'll get bored and you'll get a good variety of nutrients.

      yep those jalepenos count as peppers in your veggie limit. when you move to the frist rung of OWL after your 14 dyas of induction are up you can add 5 net grams more of those yummy veggies.

      don't forget you don't have to eat 20 net carbs that is the upper limit of what we are allowed to eat.

          Remember to take into consideration that you only count the "net carbs" of your veggies. To find the net carbs you take to total carb count and subtract the fiber carbs. The remaining number is the total that counts toward your daily intake.
