  • Can cream cheese be frozen?

    Dumb question, Can cream cheese be frozen? I got a killer sale today and I just wanted to know if it was ok to freeze cream cheese???

    please some one help!

        Depending on the "sale by" date and keeping it nice and cool in the fridge I think you can safetly say it'll be great for a week or so after that date. I've used some a week after the "sale by" date and it was still good. I'm allergic to mold so I have to watch the furries that grow on anything.

          I have successfully frozen cream cheese. If you choose to do it, I would suggest putting a few packages in a freezer bag. That way they don't pick up freezer flavor. If you don't thaw it all the way through in the fridge before using, you will notice a texture change.

            I've never had cream cheese go bad if kept in the fridge- no matter what the date! I've had the edges get hard (only after the package was opened) which was easy to cut off and not use of course. The downfall is contamination which makes mold grow. Make sure you always use a clean knife to cut it and keep your fingers off. The same goes with pickles and olives - if you keep your fingers OUT of the jar, mold will not grow! I have proven this to doubters... try it!
