  • Started again....determined to succeed

I started to jump in again to Atkins this week. Turned 40 a few months ago with 2 young kids. Got to get in shape
I figured I knew it all, since I read the book at least 5 times over the years. Needless to say I made some mistakes, LOL
I have got to clean up my induction and will do so immediately
I was going for the 20 g of carbs per day, but not doing it with veggies. I was having things such as full fat greek yogurt, 1/2 cup with 4 gms of carb
I drank lots of decaff coffee with half and half. Not much salad at all
Not the best way to get carbs
Didn't limit my splenda consumption to 3 per day and didn't avoid aspartame at all costs
Amazingly I still lost weight because my carb counts were still under 20 g per day
I want to avoid dairy anyway, so I will try to limit dairy to the 3 or 4 oz of cheese and 1-2 tbs of cream per day
I can't recommend reading the book again, even for experienced low carbers. I will also use fitday as well

Welcome back and good luck!! A suggestion would be that if you start to get bored with your food choices - climb up to the next level of OWL. You can also find great recipes on this board, as well as at the following website: http://users3.ev1.net/~fontlady/index.html
Eating the vegetables for your carbs is definitely the best way to go and is what the book requires for Atkins. If I recall correctly, their is a list of allowed foods on the induction forum "sticky."

Let us know if there is anything we can help with! Best wishes!
