  • Thursday Check In...

Is it really Thursday already? Where does the time go...

How is everyone doing? I am hanging in there. My biggest challenge right now is trying to stay off the scales. But i am practically counting down the hours until Sunday so i can weigh in. Isn't that lame? I am such an "instant gratification" kinda gal, so this weight loss seems like it is going so darn slow. I try to remember that it isn't about the loss, it is about my health overall, and that weight loss will be an added benefit to my health. But that is hard to remember sometimes, when i am working out everyday and don't SEE many changes happening day to day.

Today i had the ever-so-lovely mock danish for breakfast. And i am on my first 32 oz of water for the morning. Oh, i am in the Pacific time zone, so it is only 9am here!

I plan on checking in on the boards while Luna watches Sesame Street, and then going on the treadmill for 45 minutes. I did "The Firm" yesterday, and my muscles are sore. It was on the second time i have done "The Firm" this time around! Last time was in February, i think!

I hope everyone is having a good day. What is going on with you?

    Hey girlie!

I know what you mean about the scale!!! I'm the same way. I keep telling myself that I'm sticking to this whether the scales move or not! I want to eat healthier and follow the program. (I'm hoping to brainwash myself so I'm not so bothered when the scales don't move.)

You seem to be doing terrific! So, with all your effort and cheat-free eating, you can only lose weight/inches!! Woo Hoo!

Hope you are having a GREAT day!

Hi kat! I hope you are having a good day too!

I do feel good. . . i have been noticing that the more i exercise, the more hungry i am during the day. Is anyone else noticing this too? And what do you do about it... just eat more of the foods we can eat or just stay hungry? Mind you, i have gone from being a couch potato to exercising everyday, except Sundays.

ok ladies, I need to stay off the scale!!

I agree in the "instant gratification" theory...and I'm disappointed that I haven't lost more than I have. It's really more of a discouragement to me. So MY goal is to stay off the scale until next Thursday.

today has been going ok. I had an atkins advantage bar for breakfast, 2 eggs for lunch.

I think there may have been sugar added to the fresh-whipped cream i added to my coffee this morning... i realllllllllly hope it doesn't set me back!

I have some questions about whipping cream though. I've heard it's safe on the diet but i feel like it's SOO high in fat. I guess I'm wondering... wheres the line between a low-carb/higher-fat diet and just a FAT diet? I feel like there's a certain point, even if you're not eating a single carb and your body's in vicious ketosis... that you'll gain weight from eating too much fat.

          any wisdom?

good luck with the rest of your day

I'm around. A little busier at work today. Work is taking away from my ADBB time.

I'm struggling through this week a little. But I'm not giving up. Time to look up some more recipes and see what I can do at the grocery store this week.

Along with my buddy Jenna, I am avoiding the scale until Sunday (3 more days Jenna!).

              Re: Thursday Check In...

I know, i know - three more days. That scale best be moved lower in number for all of my hard work and *patience* (if you can even call it that) by then!!! We'll have to do a huge STAC update with our results with all of my b*tchin' this week.

I am so dang tired today? What is up... s-l-i-g-h-t possiblity i could be pregnant and i am a wee bit nervous about that... not too jazzed about that right now. It would be a blessing, i am sure, but i wasn't planning on having another baby quite this soon.

Beebparis - i used to use regular from-the-can whipped cream and i abused it... i'd mix it with nuts and stuff and would stall big time. Now i know i wasn't even supposed to have nuts yet! Or that much sugar - two tablespoons of whipped cream is considered one serving and i would eat much, much more than that. Now i am making my own: i use one cup of heavy whipping cream, 1 tablespoon of cooking splenda and i think 1/2 a teaspoon of vanilla and mix it up. It is really good and i don't use a lot. I think we need to get past the fat content and look at the sugar content that creeps into our diets in little ways, like you did with the whipped cream! Good job!

                (Somehow I missed this...)

Your metabolism is speeding up with all the exercise so that is why you are feeling a little more hungry. Just snack on something legal from whatever phase of the program you are on.

                Hope this helps.

                  Hey Beebparis!

I just read your post and the first thing that comes to mind is that you are stalling yourself with those Advantage bars. Both the bars and the shakes have stalled many people on this program. So, that would be the first thing I'd cut out and after a few days you should begin losing weight again.

Heavy whipping cream doesn't contain sugar, so you should be safe (unless you added it yourself?) If you had sugar, then you will cause your insulin to spike and your cravings will come back and you'll feel hungry more often.

This is a high protein/high fat diet -- it is the carbs that matter at this point. You will gradually add other foods back in and the fat will lesson somewhat. Right now you are getting your carb cravings under control and your best weapon is eating high protein/high fat. Once you get that steady (after your two weeks of Induction), then on each rung you start adding certain foods back in to see how they affect you.

I don't remember everything from the book, but you may want to review some of the initial chapters to find out the various reasons why this type of program works.

                  Hope this helps.

                    Re: Thursday Check In...

Oh, beebparis, one other thing that came to mind -- check the ingredients of EVERYTHING you eat...if sugar (in any form other than Splenda/sucralose), flour or starch of any kind is listed, then don't eat it.

When I went through Boot Camp I found out that this was one of my problems and why my weight loss was so slow. I was just checking how many carbs a food had and not looking at the ingredients too.

Whatever phase of Atkins you are on, you can only eat foods that are in that phase so you have to check those ingredients or you are not doing the program properly and won't get the best results.

                    I hope this helps too.

Kat is SO right about this! I just went to the grocery store over the weekend to get one of those little cooked chickens that they keep near the deli... read the ingredients... in CHICKEN, mind you: sugar AND partially hydronated soybean oil!!! Guess that is what they cook the stuff in... never again! Never ever! Yuck! I've had so much of that in the past thinking it is okay...

                      Gotta read the ingredients!

I will keep you all posted! I think i am probably just tired from all of the working out, plus Luna has been getting up in the middle of the night lately, and ridiculously early in the morning. So if my sleep is interrupted, that could be it. I did take a preggo test and it was negative, but it could be too soon to tell... time will tell the story, i guess! Thanks for thinking of me though! I appreciate it!
