It's been almost 2 years since I started a clean induction, and over 18 months since I've done any type of Atkins or controlled carb eating. So what should I expect during induction? I want to loose about 80 pounds, and as I remember I lost about 10 pounds during induction starting at the same place I am at now last time. Will my body act differently becasue I have already done induction in the past? Or was it so long ago that my body will have forgotten and go right back into the typical first couple of weeks weight loss mode? Just curious what the STAC members experiences have been. Thanks!

Re: What should I expect second time around?
For me, I dind't have too much of a problem the second time around. I tried more strict meats and veggies this time around. The first time I graduated to cheese and cream cheese ON induction LOL How much I have learned. The scales did move.
They continue to move. I watch closer this time and have avoided lots of slip ups. So, it is possible to lose the second time around.

Re: What should I expect second time around?
Hi Lynsey ~ I've started and stopped induction many times... and i just finished induction again, last week, and was down 9 pounds. Which is still average. I think i lost more the first time, but i really don't remember how much i actually lost. What is different for me this time is i have cut out caffeine completely & the low-carb processed foods, or *frankenfoods*, as they are sometimes referred to. Also, i am exercising more this time...
I also changed my attitude; in the past on Atkins i looked at it as a "quick fix" to losing weight. Now i have come to the conclusion that i am a sugar/carbohydrate addict, and that this plan is for life for me. I don't plan out "cheats" anymore. I know that if i cheat even once, at this point in time, that will be my downfall. So until i get my eating under control, that is the way it has to be for me.
I wish you so much luck! I know that checking in with the board daily & keeping up with the posting helps a lot. So keep us posted on your success!!!

Re: What should I expect second time around?
Welcome back! Sometimes with the second go around, your weight loss is slower. The key is to be patient and be diligent in tracking your carb intake and following the induction friendly foods. As Dragonflymood said, try to avoid the "frankenfoods." It seems to be a downfall for lots of us second (and more) timers.
Good luck!

Re: What should I expect second time around?
Hey Lynsey,
I have been back on Atkins for 6 days now. I am well on my way into induction. I did Atkins two yrs or three yrs ago. I worked it and studied all sorts of things. I was very committed and then I burned out, and could not drink one more ounce of water or eat another egg. I stopped and have spent the next 3 yrs without restraint.
I actually feel so much more at peace this time around. I know I am actually doing something positive for myself instead of "wishing I were doing something about all this weight and lethargeticness" . Coming back has been good, I have struggled with headaches each day and that tiredness, yet the peace and calm about being here is amazing to me. As of yet this morning at 10am I have no headache. I feel better than I have felt. I feel no guilt, and I am sleeping like a baby which I was not doing before. That is my experience and it is my truth.

Re: What should I expect second time around?
Hi =) I am on day 10 of induction (for the secoond time after 5 years) and I've lost 11 pounds so far. This is pretty much on par with last time. I kept the weight off for years and a sudden life change brought about bad eating habits and laziness - all that wonderful stuff.
Something I have read is that it's harder to lose weight the second (third, fourth, fifth, etc.) time if you are using a "traditional" low-FAT diet. Supposedly that is because low-fat diets can wreck your metablism because you lose so much muscle mass along with the fat.
I'm not finding it any more difficult at all the second time around. I'm sure you'll do great!
Also, the more you tone those muscles the more efficient your metabolism will be, even while you sleep!F/40

Back to sensible eating again after a long time.
1st goal: 10 pounds by July 1 (Met this goal on June 22)
2nd goal: 25 pounds by July 29
End goal: Who knows?
