  • I'm having a pretty bad time as of late.

I restarted Atkins and started exercising using running as a primary. I have given up weighing myself as was using the way I felt more than anything. I was feeling pretty good and was pretty happy. Well the 44 year old knees finally caught up to me and for the last couple of weeks. I'm not even walking too well. The knees are pretty much given up on me...

Today the wife brings home a book for me. It's a basic Atkins SLAM book and the author to me seems to be a friggen idiot! Jorge Cruise? He blasts the Atkins and lo carb as a "fad" yet he touts a "3 Hour Diet" where you can eat anything and will reduce "Cortisal" (the latest fad on TV) and reduce belly fat. I myself have not given up on Atkins. I'm in pain all the time, I get "the look" from everyone I work with about being on a "weird" diet: and I am upset and depressed enough about feeling like a broken down infirm old man without having my wife turn on me too.

man that sucks about the knees,,i remember when i broke my back, nothing puts you in a funky mood like a injury..i know i got to watch my knees and back, back from the wreck and my knees from when i played football,(left guard and right tackle,,off and def) so dont let it get you down take the time to heal up dont rush anything just to try and prove something...

i dont know if you can get to a swimming pool, but to be able to get the weight off those knees and still stay active(swimmimg with just your arms is a decent work out) and you wont get that bump on a log feeling...your other muscles will thank you.take it from me just siting around and using the rest of your body around your injury will make you feel even worse, stiff and old before your time. good luck with your knees i know that sucks.just dont let everything else settle if you can help it

          Hey Fozzy,
I was thinking pool too. There are all sorts of things you can do in the pool that are really a work out. Swimming, it is total body and you can pull your legs behind you. There are classes in aqua jogging, that is totally weightless...and things of that nature!
Don't give up. Some times we have to go it alone, those around us are doubtful and dubious. We all know Low Carb is going down as a "Fad" but based on your dates, you were there before it was a "fad" and can still be there when it's passed. The fact that the "fad friendly culture we live in" bashed Atkins before and now again, is really no surprise!
Hang in there! Keep mving forward in some way, you will be oh so glad you did.
