  • Day10 and Community

Every single morning, I get up and I come out here and get on the computer. i read what the west coast has written, while I was asleep and I get the feeling when it comes to STAC, I am one of the first ones up and posting.
I love that Sarah starts a thread daily about the day and checking in. I don't want to take that place, but I also love these early mornnings where I can start a thought of the day...
I have thought about and shared little thoughts on momentum, quality life and consistency. Today I was thinking about the power of community that is building for me as I participate along side you wonderful gals. I am starting to look for you each mid morning to check in and fill us in. Did you make it? How are you doing? Who exercised, who is upset and ranting. Who got on those scales and freaked out. Who has that TOM? Who blew it and is starting a new day...(I love that very long post about perfection and when we break it. More than starting over, it's about going on from here. Rather than "if I have to start over, might as well blow the whole day! NO!!! just move forward from that point...so it's a way of life. We don't restart life)

As we all check in and begin to see personalities emerge and stories unfold, we bond together. That is community and community is a very powerful force, especially as you submit yourself to the collectiveness of the focus.
We can be as cohesive as sheep. Sheep are followers. They are driven by something from behind, dogs, and people usually. They are not known as leaders, when moving them from one paddock to another the biggest problem is when the get to the open gate, they freeze. The very sheep up front freeze and the whole pack freezes... If one sheep does not go forward, someone in the middle or the back will get tired of the logjam and turn around and head back into all that they already are use to, (which is the paddock they are suppose to be leaving) and ALL THE SHEEP will follow the one who moved...and then the process of hearding them back to the opening of the gate begins again... If there is a shepard or some leader type at the opening of the gate and he can get one sheep through, the rest will completely follow. They are submiited to the collective whole...

As we bond, we create community. We reach out and help each other through each day. I am new, and I don't assume I have any pull or leadership powers here at all. I am on a high of success and I know there will be a day when I will stumble and weaken and at that time, i hope I have built enough wonderful community with all of you to be honest and submit in a post where I am, and I hope I can and will submit to the collective whole and desires to make this a way of life and I hope and pray your words will be there for me to cheer me into my next step forward. My cheer is "KEEP MOVING FORWARD, Don't eat another bite, don't slide backwards, step away from the food!!!! Go forward!
THAT IS THE POWER OF COMMUNITY...

I agree. A supporting community is very important. I feel everyones struggles and whoop with celebrations. I'm not alone, as others also know how I feel. That's a strong bond.

Great Post!!! I, too, love the sense of community here. The collectiveness of it all, helping each other meet our goals.

        Re: Day10 and Community

Very well said!! I feel the same way. It has really helped me to have everyone here to question what I am doing, cheer me on and smack me if I step out of line . And also to help me when I don't understand something or when I'm having troubles. I also made a wonderful friend here - Dragonflymoon - that has helped me to not give up, motivated me to stop making excuses and just been a wonderful friend for the year we've talked.

Now I just wish you all lived closer so that we could really keep tabs on what we are eating, LOL.

BTW, regarding the daily check-in post, anyone please feel free to start it in the am. I am just looking for a way to post what we are doing, how we are feeling any given day and what our goals are. I feel like it helps our "community" stay connected. Doesn't matter who initiates it

I love you guys! This IS a wonderful community... i have STAC on my bookmark list and i always come here first to check in with my STAC friends. I am sort of new too... i was here last year for a few months... and after falling away from the board (and then subsequently the WOE too) STAC is the place that i was drawn back to for the support & help that i needed. It has been about three weeks now, and i couldn't do it without you all! Thanks, Jess, for such a great post!
