  • Day 5 and Unsure

    Hi all

This normally the point in the Atkins diet where i throw in the towel cause im not seeing the amazing results that everyone else sees. So im asking for reassurance and a telling off if necessary, otherwise i know when i go home today im gonna start looking for another solution to my hideous behind!

Day 5- really chuffed with sticking to it this week, although i must admit that eating all the cream, cheese, mayo and butter does make me feel like im eating badily.

I weighed in this morning and have lost just under 2 pounds. A loss is a loss i suppose. I am near goal with 10 ( now 8,2 pounds) to lose ,so maybe im losing slower than most. I just get disheartedned cause the first time i did Atkins i lost loads very quickly.

I know in my heart that Cheese and mayo are a downfall for me, i can help snacking on them when i get hungry or peckisk, which usually happens when my boyfriend oulls out the ice cream carton late at night!!!!!! Does anyone have advice for those close to goal. Specifically calrie intake, what did you cut out? Do you still eat the high fat foods like mayo and cheese? Or simply protein? Any advice would be great.

Need encouragement guys to stick with this.

At only ten pounds to goal, 2 pounds in five days is FABULOUS!!! Those last ten pounds come off SO slowly, so 2 pounds in less than a week is just awesome.

As for the cheese and mayo, I've found that cheese really stalls my progress. Sadly, I've just about cut it out all together. Also, are you staying within the alloted amount of cheese and cream?

Cheese- i have max 2 ounces a day and cream is four table spoons a day in coffee. Is that too much?

I have decided not to buy any more mayo or cheese for the fridge, incase it tempts me.

        Hang in there Savanna,
Dont quit, you are so close, but it is true, the last 10 pounds take a while. Patience, keep working what has worked for you. Tweek the cheeses and cream, but stay the course...check out the book, read and see what other benefits you are gaining other than weight loss.

Thanks for the advice. I know that the cheese is a weakness for me. But i seem to be pretty good at restricting the cream. Two cups of coffee thats it.

As for the mayo- im swearing off of it right now.

what snacks do you recommend for those nearing goal- so not to high calorie- its Friday so Chris will have the icecream out, im going to need an emergency snack option just in case i think. Any suggestions???

Thanks again, im glad i came to the board this morning for some reassurance.

Hang in there. It is awesome that you are so close to goal!! My thought would be that since you are so close, you should start moving of the OWL rungs. It will give you more variety and soon when he is having icecream, you can have berries and whipped cream. Oooh, a little partially frozen strawberries - good substitue.

Otherwise, you could make the mock danish or the cream cheese clouds. But since you are having issues with cheese, this may be something that you overindulge in - or causes you to have other temptations.

Don't cut out all the fats. If you cut your cheese and you cut your cream and mayo, then you need to make sure that you are still at 65% of your calories coming from fat. You'll need to up your intake of olive oil or something like that. Dr. Atkins says that trying to do a low fat version will derail your weight loss efforts.

I'm fond of crunching on sunflower seeds. Buy the ones that are in the shell so you can spend a long, satisfying time eating them. They're good fod you and very low carb! (Be sure and read the label because once in awhile, they'll try to sneak some junk in them!)
