  • Back and embarrassed

I posted this on the main forum and Deserthorn suggested that I come here...so here I am.

    Greetings all!

I am back and embarrassed. For those of you who are new or don't remember me here is my story.

I started Atkins last year August 11, 2005 at 237 pounds. I stuck to it with NO CHEATS until April 6, 2006 and lost 60 pounds down to 177 pounds. I followed the plan and used fitday and drank all my water. However, the closer I got to 177 (my all time low in 18 years) the hungerier I became. Until I fell off....completely..wildly...and uncontrollably. The binge monster was back!! Thought I had killed him but I guess I will always have to deal with him. Wasn't drinking my water...wasn't even trying. I ate my way back up to 210 in 4 months putting on 33 pounds. My headaches were back, hip pain, fibromyalsia and my plantar fascitis. All back and making me feel like even more of a failure. It wasn't just the food and my body I was losing control in either. The house suffered as well...I had no control or energy for anything.

Well last week something finally clicked and I had had enough...I just felt so full. Now it didn't click enough that I went back to induction or that I make sure that my ratios are balancing out but I have been drinking my 8+ cups of water and I have cut out all the sugar and carbs. I am still eating a bit more fruit than I should. And a bit more spaghetti squash at a time than I should, but man, it sure beats all the other stuff I was cramming in my mouth.

Anyway, here I am, thought I should check back in. I lost 3 pounds the first day. It has been a week now and I am down 8 pounds my first week to 202. That in itself tells me how bad my body reacts to carbs.

Will try to pop in and post more as I know the key to my success is this board and fitday and finding time for myself.

        Re: Back and embarrassed

Thanks Sally! And no need to apologize for posting here. I wouldn't have posted here if I didn't want the support here. I posted in the main forum because I didn't know exactly where I fit in anymore. I am glad there is a forum for us second(and up) timers. Any pointers for this forum??

              Re: Back and embarrassed

              Ladies,

It is inspiring to read about your desire to "come back" and that you have established community and looked out for each other and when one of you pops up, the others come running with welcome... this journey seems to be an on-going thing...I too have been on Atkins, one day just left it, and ate it all...and all the aches and pains come rushing back. I cannot believe how fast aches and pains leave, and you almost forget them, and then stop atkins, and they come back. I heard somewhere alot of carbs make you hold water, and I wonder if that contributes to aches and pains in our bodies.

Well anyway, I appreciate your return and your sense of community
