I'm here, i'm here! Just three hours behind you!

DH had to wake up super early to go to work in the office (yeah! I can use the computer today!) and Luna got up really early too... then went back to sleep until 9:15! So i did too... and that was really nice. We are up now and about!

I would have done the same thing! You know, knock on wood, CJ has been sleeping until 7am everyday. Over the weekend, he actually slept until 7:30am. Woo hooo!!!

Nice! It is always great when they get through the waking up in the middle of the night or ridiculously early in the morning thing, isn't it!!!

It sure is. Though CJ tends to reverse his schedule again when the time change occurs. So come beginning of November, the child will be up at 6am again .

Yuck ~ i hear ya!!! I forgot about that...

We just got Luna's preschool papers in the mail! She starts on September 5th!!! Holy cow... can you believe it? I am so lucky they are taking her a little early... they start at 2 1/2 (it is Montessori) and she turns 2.5 in November, but the teacher met with us and is putting in for a waiver to get Lu in early... so we just got the welcome letter today. I am so nervous... but i think that extra 3 hours in the mornings will be good for me!

I've heard about Montessori schools a little bit, but I'm not too sure what it's all about. Does it kind of mean that the child sets their own pace and decides what they would like to learn? Just curious.

Good question, sofarsogood! You know, i didn't know all that much about Montessori either (and i am still learning.) My husband went for 5 or 6 years when he was a boy and he just swears by it. After visiting the school a couple of weeks ago, i just loved the environment & the teacher, and i think it'll be a great experience for Luna.

I heard that Montessori was "child directed" and wondered about that as well. (I envisioned kids running around just doing their own things with not much structure!) The teacher assured me that they do indeed have a curriculum, and they do teach lessons, either individually or in groups. However, they do let children learn & explore things at their own pace. If a child is not actively engaging in learning, they will direct that child to an activity related to a previous lesson. They believe that children learn through their senses, experiences, and environmnet. In one of the handouts she gave me they said this...

"Montessori schools therefore believe that each child is an individual and should be enouraged to work at the pace that is right for him or her. There are no grades or tests. Children are never in competition with each other."

We'll see how it goes! My husband had such a wonderful experience with his education & i am hoping that Luna will love it too! I'll keep you posted on the experience, if you are interested!
