  • Friday check in

Good morning STACers. It's friday. Hope you are gearing up for the weekend and that you drink water, rest, exercise and have a plan, because having NO plan is like PLANNING to FAIL.
Hey pstansel is back from his cruise, read his thread, it is so inspirational. He is my hero this week! I am so impressed with his success! It' just made my day.
THe longer we go here, the more I connect with your daily posts and make you my family. We are walking this thing together and pstansel, I wondered about you the cruise so often. You need to go to success stories and see the guys tv video about his journey on atkins...that will inspire you even more.
I see everybody is moving along working it. We are all working hard. We shall be successful, and yet we are like the marines, we dont' leave anyone behind. With the roll call last weekend, we took our relationship to STAC up a a notch. This is our community. I check in with that thread. I like to know your names, especially Paul's, and Jenna's who is dragonflymoon...Something happens when we come out from behind an identity used to protect our identity. Something happens when we log our real weight, something happens when we link arms by first names and walk together. Community, collective whole, strength, inspiration, and the pure joy of the success of each other, like Paul making it through a cruise. I am not sure I could have done that at all. But his success, helps my success. Seeing people slip away and get quiet...and then come back, or still pop in to make positive comments. Seeing them gather themselves and come back. Walking together, working very very hard on our new way of eating and living.
We are a collective powerful mass, to each other! WE are the marines of stac!!!! hoo-yah

It's early in the day, but going well. Got my water handy. Should be a really good day. The weekends are harder with trying to get the water in - but this weekend I will make the effort to do just that. Gotta plan ahead

Love the whole community vision you put in my head. We CAN do it!

      Re: Friday check in

Today, finally, I get to take out my boat . We bought it in February and tried to launch it in May for a test run... and sank it. I'm not kidding. It was a comedy of errors . It had to be haled out which cracked the transom. I FINALLY, after 3 months, just got it back from the boat yard. So I'm putting out somewhere at Cape Cod today for a little cruise around the bay with the family. It was good to go grocery shopping for myself again. As nice as it is to have others cook for you for a week, you do start to get paranoid about what is in it.

I have a bit of an observation from my cruise. I honestly sat back and watched the activity of people in the dining rooms, and it really made me kind of sad. First, the majority of us in there were overweight. Really, seriously overweight in many cases. People not much older than me that were so heavy they were walking with canes, or even in wheel chairs. People that had to take the elevator one floor because the stair might kill them. I'd never stopped to notice or care, mostly because I wasn't caring about my own weight. It just amazed me. And the shame of course was that everyone was packing the food away like there was tomorrow. Tables were just stacked with empty plates from a single person or couple, people were eating two or three deserts, whole pizzas, giant sandwiches. I got really sad just watching it all, and frankly it made me even more resolved NOT to be one of them anymore.

So, that's my motivation going away from the cruise. And hopefully through my example my kids won't look at themselves the way I've had to look at myself. Happy Friday all!

        Re: Friday check in

Hello all! Haven't checked in this week but have been very busy! I have had a good week except that it is apparently my turn to have the family cold. First it was my daughter, then my son, now me - and boy do I feel crappy. But anyways, I have been doing good on my eating with the exception of a piece of chocolate pie on Wednesday at a conference that I attended. May I just say that I HATE "free-but-required to attend" lunches?!?!? And I had not even picked up the pie myself; one of the people I was there to impress brought my boss and I each a piece and my boss made such a big deal out of her generosity that I really did feel obligated, and my boss KNOWS I eat chocolate pie so I couldn't use that. I know that sounds like an excuse but I really didn't know what to do! So...I ate it. And it was good...oh well. I am not going to stress about it and am right back on track. Have a great day guys!

          Morning STACers!

Happy Friday! I am really glad its the weekend. After today I will be free from my boss for two weeks. He is on vacation next week and I'm on vacation the week after. Hopefully somewhere in this time I will be providing a 2-Week notice - I'm really trying to think positive about this, can't you tell?

Food - going good, water going so/so, exercise - sadly its minimal right now. But I'm taking it a day at a time.

              Re: Friday check in

Hi Boonie! They serve two separate purposes. Some of us signed up to be on a roll call - we provided email addresses. If the person doesn't check in at some point during the week - we email them, etc. The daily check-in we are using to connect and talk about how we are doing, etc. Just a little extra support.
