  • Sunday Morning Hello and check in

Sunday morning, hello to all the great STACers here. I hope this day is a good one for you! I am great today. Been up since 5 preparing for Sunday school. Im the leader of the whole kids dept. and have created a fun engaging message for my fun and engaging kids....
Rode my bike at 6:30. Feeling great. Tried to break a time reacord, and still can't but must admit to working out the hardest yet...
I am on a month long investigation with the scale. Recording what my body does each day of the month. Today I am down 3lbs after being stuck for 7 days. It was more of an intersting responce than excitement. I think since I am approaching this with an investigative mind-set I am kind of laid back about weight right now. Yesterday was our weekly weigh in, and when I saw I had not lost anything in a whole week, I just stared, but all my clothes are in such a state of looseness that I can't rely on numbers right now to mark my improvements.
I hope everyone is charged up and focused and has time to take in life and enjoy the achievements we are making every single day. I live in such a state of relief and gratefulness!!!!

I went to the movies and had popcorn last night. I could have handled that so differently. It was just so automatic. There was even diet caffeine free coke. I think I eat to relax, and when I am relaxed, I eat. Grr. Hmmm. Had a little spat with DH (resolved) in the car before. There you go. Time to eat. Grr. (The movie was Barnyard - cute except for the "boy cow" thing. And there were some animals that were sort of unidentifiable. And when are they going to make a movie about relationships with our mothers, not just the fathers?) Today looks good. Think I will jump on the emotional eating board.

Home from the Cape today. Really need to find a decent and semi-cheap scale, not having one is driving me bonkers. Had no food in the house since we've been gone for 10 days or so, so I had to make a quick grocery run. Sometimes the expense part of this WOE does make me cringe.

Just think of the surprise of the loss when you DO get a scale

What types of expenses are you talking about?

We are big meat eaters here, so meat was never a problem. I also buy on sale and buy lots when it is on sale - enough to last until the next sale basically. I bought 40 lb of ground meat once It lasted a very long time too. That topic gets me into my price book and it's a whole other post.

Cheese are bought in the huge bags, cream cheese too. I found them cheapest at Sam's. I buy veggies as needed - same with fruits. We don't buy snack cakes and boxed foods, so that cost is gone. No sodas. Not much sugar or flour. Deli meats I treat myself when they are one sale. I've been known to freeze them for later too. Rarely do we do fast food anymore. Or out to eat. sometimes, not very often. That cuts a lot of cost. Eggs - my husband prefers the organic ones - so we splurge. Or are we really? How do you put a price on health? If you need insulin or blood pressure meds you wouldn't think twice of not getting them.

Milk - egads. my son needs a cow of his own. But I'd rather see him drink that and fruit juices than sodas. I'm willing to cut out renting movies and candy bars and sodas at the checkout line and magazines, etc. to be able to buy what I need to eat healthy. I buy a lot of my veggies organic. They last waaay longer than the others and they taste so much better. I kid you not, a bunch of organic romaine lettuce will last me a good solid 2 weeks and still be crunchy and fresh down to the last leaf. The other stuff? In a week it's slimey and icky. Did I really save? Not to me.

Sorry so long winded. I'm the budget person in our family. It's second nature to me now

It's Sunday Evening... I couldn't wait until tomorrow to say I am still here! I made it through today's pool party for the exchange students, and I did not eat ANY bad carbs. See, without ADBB, last night's popcorn would have been the end of any responsible eating for at least two weeks and five lbs. A big thanks to anyone who reads this post!

About the expensive part of ADBB- you are suffering from sticker shock- those cake mixes, brownies and ice cream are expensive too. Also, I save everytime we go out to eat and I order just water- it pays for the meaty entree!

Re: Sunday Morning Hello and check in

So I borrowed a scale and was a little surprised to see that I'd only managed another 1/2 pound in 4 days. For me that's fairly shocking. So I used a ketone strip and I'm... not in ketosis. Erg. I'm wondering if I got sloppy with my carb count or something . Still working out and all, but now I'm going to fret over those darn strips!
