How do we measure ounces of cr. cheese

Hey, how do you all measure ounces? Like for cream cheese?
I got out my WW scale. Put cream cheese on it, but 2oz seemed like a whole lot to go with one egg in a mock danish...so, I added half the amount the scaled showed as 1oz.

I would love to hear all the tricks of the trade on this on...measuring things and the tools you use..

The foil package is marked with ounces on the cream cheese. I just cut it along those lines

The cream cheese I buy has the ounces marked off on the inner foil wrapper, whether it's a store brand or Philadelphia. Each line section represents an ounce.

In UK it comes in a plastic tub in a metric quantity!

I use the Google calculator for conversions of all sorts (except relgious)

Type something like

2 oz in g

into Google and you will get

2 ounces = 56.6990463 grams

or try

8 fl oz in ml

for the answer

8 US fluid ounces = 236.588238 ml

Now this one from the Google Calculator examples is bizarre

(160 pounds force) * 4 000 feet = 207.390891 kilocalories

Do you Americans really do mechanics in those units?

Even in a tub you can kinna estimate what an ounce is by eye-balling it, half a tub is 4 a quarter is 2 ect. But since your in Atlanta, just by the Philladelphia or generic brands that come in the foil wrap.

Not trying to jijack this thread but that brought up an iteresting point. I pull out my scale to measure things like shredded cheese (I shred and store in a container), loose frozen spinach. How accurate are these readings?

ps. I buy the foil cream cheese and go by the markings, just like a cube of butter. Pay attention though I've found the lines are not always lined up end to end.

Well all your suggestions sent me to the package of cream cheese, that came in a bulk package of Philly Cream cheese at Sam's there are no markings on it...whew, I thought to myself, "How could I have missed this, everyone else caught it"...mine does not have measurements, probably because it's bulk, even tho the philly brand name is there.

Ohhhh, THAT explains it!! I was looking at that bulk block at Sam's the other day. I opted for the box of 8 8oz packages instead.

figure out how much cream cheeses is in your container since it is foil wrapped you can score the foil into say 32 sections if you got a 2 pound block by dividing in 1/2 then in 1/4th then in 1/8th etc until you have the cream cheese down to an amount you can handle. I do this with 1 pound cheese blocks and then know each cube is about 1 ounce

I have the bulk 8 box deal...I am not eating cr.cheese at the rate I thought, so I will head for smaller quanities with markings next time...

then cut your box you are using into 8ths and each block is 1 ounce.

the mock danish is a do it yourself mix. some folk like 2 eggs and one ounce of cream cheese some folk like 2 ounces of cream cheese cause they use 1/2 the cream cheese sweetener/ flavoring as icing like in Barbde's pic of the danish. As long as you count the carbs and eat only enough of it to satisfy your hunger and you like the way it looks and tastes then you have the mix you need.

uhmmmm... I always thought 2oz was like, 1/4 cup, or is that just liquid measure?

2 fluid ounces is 1/4 cup in a volume measure but cheese is measured in weight ounces

cheese is measured in weight ounces. that's the ticket i was looking for! I meausred this on a little ww scale...before I used it and i only used 1oz
