I restarted last monday after I got on the scale and realized that I had gained back almost 20 lbs YIKES!!!.. I did good all week but cheated saturday.. ok I told myself..u had a setback ..I woke ups sunday first I told myself..screw it ..u already messed up go get a donut and start fresh monday..but I didnt..I got right back on track..then today I did good alll day long..it was my nieces birthday I had a piece of birthday cake and a scoop of ice cream
I am so dissapointed in myself.. I mean I know that I can jump back on but these little cheats are probably going to make me maintain instead of lose

I understand your disappointment in yourself. You are at a critical time in your journey...as you've lost a lot of weight. You might be feeling that you deserve to eat what everyone else is eating because you've done so well. Remember that this is a permanent life-style change.
Instead of eating what others are eating, make substitute meals for yourself for occassions when there is foods that you shouldn't be eating. Don't depend on others to do it for you, only you can make it happen.
Have you revised your action plan for your success? Remind yourself that in order to reach your goal you have got to be extra careful now. Make sure you are aware of your portion sizes, increase your activity level and think about all of the activities that you have coming up so that you can make a plan of action to avoid temptation.
I know I am obcessed with planning. I have several plans in my journal...one for birthday parties (with recipes and suggestions), one for hospital stays (as I've had a few operations the past year), one for barbecues, one for dinner parties that I host and one for dinner parties that I'm invited to.
Make some affirmations and put them on your bathroom mirror and in your kitchen. Carry them with you in your purse. Whatever it takes to get that inner voice back into action so that you are feeling good about yourself and guiding you to goal.
Planning ahead will help keep your mind on your WOE. You can do this, you just need to re-adjust your thinking and committment to yourself.Starting Date 3/12/04 285/165/145 - F

I hear ya ~ i gained back 17 pounds that i had lost! It is taking me a long time to correct the damage i did... but all we can do is look forward, and it doesn't help to beat ourselves up over it. Look how far you've come ~ you have lost a lot of weight! 5x5, girl, it's the sugar, we are addicted to it, one bite and we slide and tumble down. It's like alcohol for us! It really is. I have been reading a book by another low carber, Dana Carpender, and she has studied all about low carb diets from the vast medical journals,she quotes studies done over a 100 yrs ago as well as all the recent info during it's fad season. Sugar is addictive to us, and one bite and we are usually screwed! WE all have to "get this" point, and move out from there. Hang in there, good for you for getting on the board and communicating and getting this all out there, rather than hiding and sliding away! Get up, get going, start moving to being free from sugars and processed foods. The knowledge that translates to understanding will set you free....74 8/1/06

oh man... i can promise you everyone on this board has been there before! i totally know what you mean by the "i've already screwed up, i might as well just binge" feeling. it's awful!!!
i was off for the past week, but just keep coming back to this board. It really helps, and we're all here to help you get back on the horse.
And stay off the scale for the time being....that's a sure way to make yourself feel worse. "oh...well look, i gained 20 pounds, what does it matter if i gain a few more"... or it'll just make you sad.

value yourself more then the pleasure you get from that cheat and you have won the battle. If you knew eating that piece of cake would kill you you would never have even thought about letting it in your mouth. you have a carb addiction that can and will kill you sooooooo start getting seious about the effects on your health of that piece of cake and clean up your act. remember you are allergic to highc arb foods they make you break out in fat>
